  1. Review titled Not great

I've had an infection for 3 weeks now. I had one set of antibiotics prescribed over the phone in the first week, and they didn't work. I then went to out of hours on the Saturday of the first week as I was in pain where they didn't check either, they did a swab from as far away as they could so they didn't have to look at the infected area and sent me away telling me to ring the surgery on a Tuesday to get the results. Second week, I rang the doctors on the Tuesday afternoon and after being 4th in line and waiting 40 minutes in a queue, was told that there was no test results. So, I logged in to the nhs app on the Tuesday night to discover that the results were back and the doctor had looked at them. I rang the receptionist again on the Wednesday to be told that the results were back, the doctor had checked them and for some reason had left no comments and that I would need to speak to a doctor but there were no appointments available other than the following Monday as a telephone appointment. So, week 3, I get a phone call from the doctor on Monday, 35 minutes after the appointment I was given, she was lovely on the phone, she talked through the results and told me that I would need a face to face appointment to see what further treatment was needed. I was offered an appointment on the Wednesday at 6.30pm. I did question if this was at Langley Park as I wasn't aware they were open that late, but I was assured it was. I was happy after the phone call thinking that I was finally going to get the infection looked at properly after 3 weeks as it wasn't clearing up and it was still painful. Wednesday at 5.15pm, I received a phone call from the doctors, I was asked my date of birth and what the problem was. I was confused so I said I'm supposed to be coming along for a face to face appointment at 6.30pm to which the doctor replied, oh well we're closing early. Already annoyed by this, he then proceed to ask question which he should already know the answers to if he had looked at my notes for the previous 3 weeks, he didn't even know where the infection was, and then suggested he would send antibiotics out to try. I had to cut him off in the middle of his sentence to tell him that the ones he was prescribing were the ones that I'd had in the first week that hadn't worked and that was why I was coming in for a face to face appointmemt. I felt like he was in a hurry to get me off the phone. So, 3 weeks later, I'm trying antibiotics that might or might not clear up an infection that hasn't once been looked at. Then this morning I've logged on to check the notes the doctor has left on the app to see that he has said that I 'think' I have an infection (the swab results showed I do) and if no better in 48 hours to seek medical attention, which will just prolong the problem again. I've been going to this surgery my entire life but I'm starting to consider moving to another surgery.

  2. Review titled Great practise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Rang to ask to speak to a GP - was given a telephone consultation an hour later. GP nurse called me - at time given. Listened to everything I said and prescribed medication. Had been in a very bad way - now feeling a lot better in only a few days. I have been with this practise for over 20 years and have been given first class care. Lovely staff. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Poor patient care

Rated 1 star out of 5

Finally got a phone appointment which lasted approximately 3 minutes after trying for over 5 weeks. Explained my symptoms, how debilitating they were and was prescribed a medication. No explanation of dosage, potential side effects let alone an explanation as to why it had been prescribed/why it was suitable for me. I was offered no alternative nor was one discussed. I was not offered a physical examination, was not offered blood tests to confirm my physical symptoms. Was not referred to a clinic. Was not given advice on how to manage my symptoms. I felt as though I was a hindrance to the GP and that he had no time to talk to me at all and couldn't get me off the phone quick enough. Almost a case of phone up, tell them what you want prescribing and you'll get it with very little fuss. Am absolutely appalled at the basic lack of care and consideration. I understand GPs may be busy but so are the majority of their patients. I work in a front facing role and don't have the luxury of cherry picking who I will contact by phone or see in person. I feel so badly let down by this practice.
