  3. Review titled Rude profit over people

Disgusting attitudes I get sent here as I am.new in the area as a emergency, I have a wisdom tooth pressing on another tooth that's caused a abcess. I arrive and approach the receptionist who blasts out. Are you paying for the treatment, or are you nhs! Talk about embarrassing, especially as the waiting room was full. I explained that I am new to the area, so I was looking for a dentist, then she shoved an I pad in my face and asked me to tick my current illnesses, it was demoralising to.say the least. I was unfortunate enough to then see djl as soon as I walk in she informs me.that my previous dental work by the NHS is so bad and that they use the cheapest materials. I was taken back by this.she then further adds that they will not help me with my wisdom tooth or abcess basically unless I sign up privately with them and she goes into hard sale mode and tells me that her boss is like a god dentist amd that he's the best in the area ect ect He can do the work by the way but basically only of you go private with us. Keeping in mind I am in mega pain and need a tooth extraction , she tells me that they won't be able to help me unless I phone up 111 amd go through the whole reveral procedure 3 times. In a nutt shell they need to milk 3 payments from the NHS out of me before they can even help me, I was then stood up and had another ipad shoved in my face and told to sign here. This place is a disgraceful so called dentist talk about profit over people at its finest. Funny thing is I have called the 11 services 4 times now and I have only just gotten through 2 weeks on from the embarrassing visit here, oh amd I will add that the 111 NHS nurse told me that they should of helped me and that calling 3 times is.the exact thig that has put the stress on the NHS and that orcourse I need help as I am suffering. All in all the staff are rude and inconsiderate especially djl who bad mouths the NHS and is a foreigner who probably uses it when she's feeling poorly I am sure. I would not go here ever again I would rather have pain and let my teeth fall out. Disgusting money driven place.

  4. Review titled sorry sad and annoyed

I had been a patient of this practice since about 2012. Regular appointments - nice staff - last visit 2019 .. when covid came .. I stayed away as my teeth ok - and that is what we were asked to do ... after covid the news was full of NHS trying to catch up and please do not overload NHS .. and as a vulnerable person it seemed sensible to wait until covid not such a risk ... so I continued to stay away thinking I was doing the right thing ..... In July 2023 everything seemed safer (even our doctors had stopped insisting on our wearing face masks for visits), so I asked Westcountry for an appointment for a checkup ... I was told by Westcountry that I had been deregistered as I had not been to see them for more than 2 years ... I was out ... no warning... Apparently this was their policy but they never told me this .. nor did they give me any warning before deregistering me. The really annoying thing was that had I known of this policy then I would have gladly made an earlier appointment ... to preserve my place on their list of patients. (and yes they even had my phone number as they always sent me a voice text to remind me of upcoming appointments!!)

  6. Review titled They are struggling

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Several cancelled appointments at short notice. Really long waiting time for appointments. Not allowing long enough time for a root canal treatment so only time for a temporary filling. Appointment to complete the treatment cancelled on the day. Have tried calling when in pain for an emergency appointment but when I have got through the two emergency appointments for the day have gone. Not their fault, Govt has underfunded NHS dentistry for years, not trained enough dentists and then Brexit. I have no confidence my next appointment will be kept by them. They have £282 of my money in credit as they make you pay in advance too!

Always welcoming, friendly and professional in providing first class treatment. The punctuality is particularly pleasing and that there is no 'up selling'.

  10. Review titled Poor Customer Service and Communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended the practice yesterday for a scheduled appointment, only to find it had been cancelled due to staff shortages. Apparently a voicemail had been left on my mobile a couple of weeks ago informing me of this, but I did not receive it and when I had not called back to reschedule my appointment, no effort was made to contact me again to check that I had received the message and still wanted to reschedule. I have now asked for my main contact method to be via e-mail, so I have a communication trail. This was the second time my appointment had been cancelled. My original appointment was supposed to be in November 2022 and at the time the next available appointment was yesterday. Now I have to wait another month for my appointment. I travelled to Barnstaple from my home several miles away, specifically for the appointment - very frustrating and disappointing! Luckily, I do not have any major issues, but have a few things which I would like checked out to make sure they do not worsen. I would strongly advise potential patients to avoid this practice if they actually want to be seen!
