  1. Review titled Awful

Partner had an appointment for a scan in radiology @sjh radiology department, he arrived 5 minutes early and was told they’re not open and to sit on the chairs in the corridor 30minutes later he was told they are open and to go in. At this point he found out he had missed his appointment and would have to wait ages to be seen -he left feeling very angry and frustrated. Staff need to be more considerate when telling people where to sit and when calling out to make sure they are not in the corridor still waiting.

  2. Review titled Endoscopy Visit 06/03/24

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Mander - Posted on 06 March 2024

Attend Queen's hospital today for the first time for my appointment at the Endoscopy centre. Feeling nervous on arrival I was greeted by some of the most professional, helpful and kind staff that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. From my initial triage to the actual examination everyone was amazing , reassuring and professional nothing seemed to be too much trouble even when I felt slightly awkward. The staff are true credit to this hospital and the NHS should be proud to have these individuals working for them . Unfortunately I didn't catch anyone's name due my concentration being else where but I've added my name so that it is possible to see who looked after me today and pass on my gratitude. If I ever need another visit to an Endoscopy team, Queens you will be my first choice lol, but hopefully I won't be seeing you too soon 😉 . Thanks again Mr Mander

  3. Review titled Car Parking at Derby Royal Hospital

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 February 2024

I had an appointment at 3.00 this afternoon and arrived at the hospital at 2.10. Frankly it was like a war zone - it took 5 minutes to even drive through the main entrance. After queuing to park for 45 minutes and there were still about 30 cars in front of me I gave up and went home because there was no way I would make my appointment. Thank goodness my appointment was only for routine breast screening rather than something more serious. So the result was a missed and a thus wasted appointment. I have never seen such a debacle; the entire site was gridlocked. When is something going to be done? It’s been like this since the hospital was built but today was the worst I’ve ever seen. And just how do you get to attend an appointment on time, particularly when you work and can’t allow hours to sit in a car park queue? It’s honestly what you’d expect in third world countries, not the UK! I feel very sorry for people who have relatives in hospital and want to visit every day because parking is just a complete nightmare and frankly disgraceful.

  4. Review titled Happy experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julia Jones - Posted on 13 July 2023

I cannot fault the care and kindness I experienced when I was taken into hospital recently. From the paramedics to all the staff I met during my time there, they were marvellous and a credit to the NHS. Waiting times were minimal and I was always kept informed of everything that was happening. Even after a 12 hour shift they were still cheerful and smiling. They deserve double whatever they’re earning!

  5. Review titled Florence nightingale hospital blood test

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 May 2023

I am prone to bruises as I am diabetic but I rarely get them. Whenever I get a blood test i always end up bruising and sometimes they take so much blood out that it makes me feel weak. They seem like trainees who do the blood tests and they need more training to actually be able to train on humans. They need blood test professionals and to be gentle to those with health conditions.

I went for ultra sound on my abdomen and was in and out within 35 mins. Fabulous service and friendly staff. Added bonus was not having to pay for parking. May you continue giving this service.

  8. Review titled Professional, slick, stress free

    by Liz M - Posted on 03 November 2022

Fabulous experience today. Came for a foot operation as a day case. Everyone was lovely. Kept me informed. The whole process was professional, slick and extremely stress free. Nothing like a hospital visit at all. I even got a hot blanket to keep me warm in theatre. Well done everyone!

  9. Review titled Rather frustrated getting through

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 November 2022

Trying to get through to x Ray department. Not taking calls and no facility for leaving a message. Tried ringing main hospital number and waited to be put through to someone who could advise when to call. A voice said “are you still there” in a sarcastic tone then the phone cut off. Rather rude. Will have to travel to Ripley to get something done.

  10. Review titled Terrible Empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Amy Harrison - Posted on 18 December 2022

I spent three days before my miscarrige in A&E, To be treated as someone not to worry about because,I wasn't bleeding heavily and I was completely dismissed because, as I was seeing my midwife in two days time. I mentioned the pain wasn't right and ignored. I ended up In an out of hours GP the next day. I came for my scan three days later to find out I had miscarried, No pain relief or Advice, Leaflets or any aids offered to help on what to expect. Still in the dark,I phoned the midwifery department at burton hosptial, To be told they couldn't help because I was no longer pregnant. The day after I miscarried at home, I was in crippling pain. I was brought in by ambulance after losing a lot of blood, I was offered more compassion and pain relief that I had in the last few days by the paramedics. I had an Gynaecologist, Tell me to take iron tablets because of the amount of blood I lost. Now nearly a month after, I discover there is a early pregnancy ward and wondered why I wasn't send here earlier with the pain I was in. I am now going back and fourth with scans and a medically managed miscarriage to be treated with pain relief and empathy. Until 14th December, where a rude Receptionist asked for my name over the ward phones and made me explain what had happened in front of corrider full of people and she was annoyed because I had been sent to ward 30, To which she couldn't understand why I had been sent to ward 30 and transferred me to someone else without warning. This person was lovely however, I had to re explain why I was there nearly in tears at this point. To be told what I had come for couldn't be done, because I needed a scan. Knowing I had purposely made arrangements around my daughter for this day and knowing I would need a Scan I was not booked in for the appropriate treatment. I had to come back the next day and have a scan and the treatment I had planned for and have to be in pain and medicated around my daughter. While the staff in ward 30 have all been amazing with emotions and understanding what I have been through, The planning wasn't the greatest for the wednesday and the friday as I had to return as the treatment failed, but had to plan travel and childcare two hours before the ward closed, without any warning that I would have to return if it failed. The treatment and empathy I recieved from Antenatal was heartbreaking, For someone who has just lost there child, Where was the compassion, help or advice. Ward 30, Midwife, Sonographer's. Thank you for the compassion we should have received first. Burton Hospital, I feel your policy's need to change on how to deal with a miscarriage patient.
