  1. Review titled Macmillan Cancer Navigator Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris Burns - Posted on 22 November 2023

I just wanted to leave a big shout out to this service. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2018 and that began my contact with Macmillan, I had several queries and problems with getting results. Each time I phoned Macmillan and the problem or query was resolved very quickly. More recently, in past few weeks, I had a shadow on my prostate and was referred to Charing Cross Hospital again. I had a telephone appointment arranged and the time came and went and I had heard nothing in the end I phoned Macmillan and within 10 minutes I was phoned with an appointment for an MRI scan. Apparently the doctor had reviewed my case and decided that I should have a scan but no one had told me. The Macmillan Nurses have always struck as people who know whom to contact and how to make things happen, a great skill.

  2. Review titled Super staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Salmon - Posted on 30 November 2023

My wife is in 7 North; I am her husband, visiting every day. Every single one of the staff I meet here has been wonderful; so nice. The medical care is obviously first-rate, but that everyone is helpful is a lovely bonus. Much appreciated.

  3. Review titled Rheumatology. Incredibly rude consultant

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 March 2022

I encountered one of the rudest doctors ever today. I was berated by her about the work done by a muscular/skeletal team’s physiotherapist that lead up to my referral to her specialism (rheumatology) and what she perceived as a lack of background notes. I called her out during the meeting about the way she was speaking to me, telling her it was not acceptable. Whilst she backed down a little, she did continue in an angry manner. I felt belittled and made to feel like a fake for being there, she made me feel I was wasting her time. The whole experience was so unpleasant I won’t be going back to see her or under go the follow up treatment plans she reluctantly and begrudgingly made nor continue any rheumatology treatment at this hospital. I have lost trust in the rheumatology team. I get that doctors might be frustrated by what they might consider failures in past care by other NHS providers but that’s not the patient’s fault and it’s not acceptable to take this out on the patient. It just adds to the patient’s continued negative treatment experience and frustrations that nothing is being done whilst left in considerable pain as the medical professionals argue and vent anger over other colleagues’ opinions. I will now ask my GP to refer me to another hospital trust.

  4. Review titled The most wonderful kind and compassionate care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having a mammogram can be very uncomfortable and humiliating. It can make you feel very vulnerable. And, during previous routine screenings (at least 2) at Charing Cross Hospital, this has been how I felt. However my experience this time (March 2022) was 100% different - the medical practitioner was exceptional, very respectful and caring. The processes in place around waiting and changing also felt human and compassionate (previously it felt a little like being a cow going in for milking). Thank you.
