Great treatment when I attended Accident and Emergency triage were extremely efficient doctors took over very quickly and had emergency stents fitted in theatre that evening. My treatment by everyone within the hospital for my 3 night stay after my heart attack was incredible and I will be forever grateful to all staff the care and consideration they all gave me was amazing

  2. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I attended for a cataract operation which was the second one, I found the experience very bad compared to the first one 9 months earlier. I was left with a medication pellet in eye for over 2 hrs, which caused discomfort and soreness, the general process and preparation seemed to take too long. I felt distressed during the operation. There was a long delay after my relative was contacted, 45 minutes, before being discharged. Staff seemed disengaged. The general experience was a complete contrast to my first cataract operation where I felt relaxed and in good hands.

Attended following a bad fall. Everyone I dealt with - Reception, Triage, Obs, Scan , Doctor, X-Ray - was kind and diligent. Can't thank them all enough.

I was in this hospital for 10 hours with the main delays Bloods. A lot of the staff seemed to be running around doing the same thing over and over. Not the hospitals fault.... What is needed is more funding and more staff. What is more important money or health???

  5. Review titled One can let down the whole…

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Received call relative was deteriorating and to visit asap .On arriving at ward ,after no reply on intercom, twice , a member of ? clerical staff appeared on our side of the doors and asked if we had buzzed in . When I replied yes but no answer , he proceeded to swipe himself in , with no offer of assistance , only a smirk and ‘well you are well outside of visiting times!’ Then left us outside.I did say we’d been rung but he just walked away . Now ask yourself, ‘ well outside of visiting times’what’s the most likely explanation for 3 distressed relatives to be calling to a ward? We did not need this sarcasm at this time or complete lack of compassion . Staff on the ward were amazing though . Communication was excellent , especially critical care outreach nurse . Relative died the next day , and, despite the staffs care, that one incident plays on my mind . So please , All Staff, clinical or otherwise , please just be kind ! It matters ! PS I am a registered nurse at this hospital , so yes, I understand security issues etc . Just could have been handled so much better .

I had to be re admitted to Hospital on Friday 18/11/22 . From a 999 call picking me up taking me to A & E (which was unusually) quiet . Being taken to SAU then Saturday to theatre having to have a further operation. The. Onto Ward 15 B . I cannot say one negative word about the care & the staff I was treated with utmost top class care . I’m now home recovering thanks to the fantastic staff at Blackpool Victoria

I was taken to A&E yesterday and cannot fault the staff. I was seen by two in particular that were amazing, going above and beyond for results. I am so impressed with the care I have received. Thankyou so much. You deserve medals.

  8. Review titled Excellent in sdec

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kirsty Murray - Posted on 11 October 2022

Attended sdec with my father. He required several tests which were all done in the same day. Yes, we had to wait a while but everything was done within 7 hours ct scan, us scan, fluid tests, blood tests and seen by Dr several times. Couldn't fault the staff, they were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Excellent system, thank you

  9. Review titled Outstanding treatment from bvh and ambulance team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Timmins - Posted on 19 September 2022

On Saturday night I had to call an ambulance which arrived within the hour and the two staff were brilliant. They took me to bvh promptly where I spent the next twelve hours. Being a Saturday night, there were frequently around forty people (including visitors accompanying patients) awaiting treatment. At the end of the night shift, there were still around 6 patients waiting to be attended to, including myself. I witnessed some really nice patients and some less nice - either through drink, drugs or just because they were simply not nice people ! From my emergency telephone call, the two ambulance staff and everyone working in the emergency department, I doubt that I could have received any better care at any hospital anywhere in the uk. We hear all sorts of negatives about the nhs and I have to admit that it's something which I don't have much experience of, but I have nothing but the highest praise for the treatment, care and respect I was shown by some truly wonderful and caring nhs staff. Some of the more 'difficult' patients were also treated with a degree of respect which I found astonishing as they were certainly 'challenging' to say the least. In most other workplaces, they would have been refused service and shown the door ! Following my experience I looked at some of the internet comments and feedback associated with bvh and was astounded to read some disparaging remarks and concerns. My experience was entirely positive so I'd like to record my thanks to the nhs staff who did their utmost to care for me through some extremely difficult constraints. You might say 'well, that's their job......it's what they get paid for" - but on Saturday, everyone who looked after me went 'above and beyond'. I'm a retired hse manager on the railway network and I was a lead assessor with vast experience of working with some of the biggest and best companies and contractors in the uk and overseas, so assessing 'management systems and procedures' and managing risk safely and professionally in high risk industries and on complex construction sites is nothing new to me, so I'd like to publicly place on record that I was humbled at just how excellent my care was, and I'd like to thank everyone who looked after me so brilliantly.........they are all 'Angels' in my view.
