  1. Review titled such kindness

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was having a CT scan with an injection beforehand. After the scan I became unwell and the lovely staff were so kind, so reassuring. They held me and helped me onto a bed until I felt better. Their kindness restored my faith in people and really helped me to feel better. Thank you lovely radiologists and nurses#.

  3. Review titled End of life care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paula - Posted on 19 March 2024

My mum was admitted to SAU in February. The nurses & Drs were wonderful and caring. I had travelled over from Spain and didn’t know what to expect but my mum was treated with respect and dignity at the end of her life. They not only cared for my mother, but my well being too.

  4. Review titled Very efficient speed and treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Holidaying in the area, we needed urgent treatment for a leg injury. We were seen, had tests done and were given appropriate advice and a prescription - with advice as to where the nearest open out of hours pharmacy was - by busy but friendly and efficient members of staff. The whole process only took 55 minutes. Thank you to all the team.

  5. Review titled Audiology experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jan Weightman - Posted on 23 February 2024

A very positive experience in the audiology department today. The gentleman ( Sadly I understand I can’t name him) I saw was so helpful and explained everything so clearly. I can’t thank him enough. You cannot imagine the difference he has made to my life by sorting out my hearing aids. Deafness is debilitating but I left feeling happy and empowered. Thank you so much.

  6. Review titled Committed and caring professionals

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited Conquest following a minor accident, I found it an outstanding facility staffed by very highly competent doctors, nurses and specialist technicians. At all times I was treated as a human being who required care, I was impressed that despite huge pressures time was taken for appropriate questioning and examination. There were long waits but that is not the fault of the staff - there should be many of them.

  7. Review titled Miserable routine pregnancy scan

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023

Couldn’t have been left less impressed by my rushed and disappointing appointment. I usually go to a different hospital but due to limited appointment availability I unfortunately found myself here. Honestly felt like I was a bother on the sonographers time. My appointment wasn’t until 3:40pm, I was seen slightly early and probably no more than 5-7 minutes later I was done and out ahead of my set appointment time at 3:35pm with a failed scan as they couldn’t get the right fetal position. Perhaps if they spent a bit more time with me jumping or wiggling then we may have got the baby in the right place - especially since we hadn’t even started my official appointment time yet so would have had plenty of time for this. They also never offered an internal exam which my usual hospital has done, that also would have provided a better view. A shame it seemed the sonograher just couldn’t be bothered. At my usual hospital my appointments started late both times which although is a slight inconvenience, I was never rushed and had a thorough scan myself, and I would much rather wait an extra 10 minutes and feel confident and trust the sonographer has been thorough rather than be in and out early but left with a rubbish result. I also am now not able to do the screening tests I wanted, again had the sonographer just spent a little longer maybe we could have managed it. But she clearly didn’t care. The heartbeat was also played for the first time, for all of 4 seconds as a background noise before she hurried onto the next thing which is also massively disappointing as I had been looking forward to that. I get that this is a medical procedure and a certain amount of tick boxing is required and you only have so much time with a patient, but my gosh, is a smile and a small degree of nicety really that much of an impossibility? Bed side manner is also part of the important role played. I have had such lovely experiences at my usual hospital with two different sonographers who made me feel comfortable, at ease and took the time to explain what we could see on the screen and honestly just treated me with care. Which is what I expect from a caring profession. So disappointing and I hope I never have to go for any future scans here.. I’m worried that it will be my birthing hospital as that will be an incredibly anxious time and I dread how it will be if the team treat patients in any way similar to my experience.. I am honestly quite anxious and worried now, more so than before. It can also feel very hard to speak up or question the staff as there is a significant power dynamic between patient and medical professional, so I was left feeling so crushed afterwards and regretted not asking for a bit more time or to try internal but I didn’t feel comfortable to.

  8. Review titled Great service at the Breast clinic

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Excellent service all round from point of referral to the breast clinic at the Conquest Hospital. Consultation, mamogram, ultrasound, cyst aspiration and follow up all completed efficiently in around two and a half hours. Staff all lovely and very caring which made me feel at ease. Couldn't ask for better.

  9. Review titled Disheartened and disappointed.

Rated 1 star out of 5

As somebody that works within the NHS I get that everyone is overworked, understaffed and underpaid but I was shocked when I attended A&E via ambulance and was treated so poorly and with complete disregard. My partner had to go and get the assistance of doctors as I had another medical episode in A&E and my nurse call bell was broken so I couldn’t call for help myself, and the staff were huddled out of eye sight. He was thankfully on his way back from the toilet and managed to catch me before I fell off the bed. Unfortunately the consultant who was on shift and came to my bedside begrudgingly, then proceeded to tell me that the episode I had suffered was because “you want attention.” I have been diagnosed with a medical condition and I’m currently under investigation for the cause of these episodes and to have someone tell me that I have essentially feigned them for attention is barbaric to me. I have never felt so humiliated in all my life. I was so disheartened by this, the consultant then discharged me with no follow up. I have since had another episode and as a result of this situation alone and feeling so humiliated I declined hospital attendance. I have always praised the Conquest and was always proud to work within it. It’s unfortunate that this situation has tarnished that for me.
