  2. Review titled Team work was outstanding

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Daniel Turner - Posted on 04 March 2024

I would like yo thank all in the a&e department in the early hours of a Friday night as everyone worked tirelessly to treat my partner and went above and beyond to make sure she was ok and the communication between them all was perfect and it felt like clock work in a time of need. They all worked so carmly and communicated perfectly with me and my partner I couldn't fault them and would happily go back again if we ever get diverted in ambulance again instead of self admitting our self into worcester royal

  3. Review titled AEC Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Steph Adams - Posted on 04 March 2024

Hi I went to my GP this morning and was sent to the AEC department for a possible blood clot. I arrived, scared and anxious. I was met by as lovely receptionist. Then without much time at all a friendly and kind man came to take my blood pressure and bloods. I was tsken to x-ray, again a very kind nurse even helped me to remove my kneckless. My final test was an ECG performed by a trainee nurse. She was professional and so kind. I think you have chosen well with that recruitment decision and she will have a bright future in the NHS. My results were given to me by another professional member of staff who was as reassuring as she was kind. Please pass on my gratitude I couldn't praise you all enough. Kindest regards Steph

  4. Review titled Poor communication. Unprofessional.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Duncan JA Maxwell - Posted on 26 March 2024

I was told I should attend Princess Alexandra Hospital for a CT Scan on Saturday 23rd March at 09:30am and then immediately attend Same Day Emergency Care to meet Urologist and discuss the results of my scan. CT Scan went according to plan. I went across to Same Day Emergency Care where there was a lot of confusion. Apparently Urologist do not work weekends. Why was this not known by staff ahead of my appointment? So I had to rebook to attend 08:00 on Monday morning and spend all morning at Same Day Emergency Care. I don't know if staff are aware (or care) that I run a business and having to take time out for repeated visits causes me distress as well as upsetting my customer base and ultimately my income. Parking at Princess Alexandra Hospital is always a problem. This appears a very unprofessional service.

Attended for a pre op assessment yesterday .found the staff really friendly and helpful throughout the visit. From the reception to jason who made me comfortable throughout.going into hospital is an unpleasant time so we as patients rely on these people to make it as easy as possible. This is exactly how I felt when my visit was over .thank you to all who came in contact with me yesterday

  6. Review titled 5 star treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael Hails - Posted on 11 March 2024

I was not looking forward to my planned procedure. However on arrival at the reception desk I was immediately impressed by the warm welcome that I received which I found very reassuring. Every member of the team that I had contact with displayed a very professional and caring attitude which enabled me to relax. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and everything was explained to me and the few questions that I asked were answered thoroughly. The procedure that I underwent was conducted in a relaxed atmosphere with each step being carefully explained and I cannot praise the doctor highly enough. I hope that a copy of my comments are made available to the staff that were in the unit on the day I was treated as they all thoroughly deserve recognition for their outstanding work.

  7. Review titled Could not ask for more

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter Thompson - Posted on 15 February 2024

My visit was for Day Surgery and I have to say every member of staff I encountered was professional friendly and helpful. Each patient including myself were made to feel centre of attention when in conversation. Cannot fault the department in any way.

  8. Review titled Unhygienic and poor staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Lisa. w - Posted on 01 February 2024

My mother spent her over 24hrs in a&e with dangerously high blood pressure and chest/head pains. The first doctor came into contact with asked my mother if she takes her high blood medication at home, which she said she did. He replied , rudely “we see about that! If your blood pressure comes down with tablets I give you it proves you aren’t taking your medication”. I was appalled. He proceeded to give her medication but it didn’t work, after several attempts at using different tablets, she was put on an gtn infusion. She was unable to rest or sleep, she was given inedible (cheap!?) cornflakes, no other choice for breakfast. My mother was moved into resuss and the nurses there were incredible. However, after several hours she was moved into cubicle 6 in the main a&e. This is where it became a shambles. Hardly saw any nurse, even though they should be monitoring my mother. I had to ask someone to disconnect my mother from the machines so I could get her to the toilet. A very unwilling male nurse came in and disconnected her. I walked my mother, with her walker, to the toilet. I opened the door and the stench hit me. Urine was everywhere, on the toilet and all on the floor. It was so bad it made me gag. I told my mother she wasn’t using this toilet and I would walk her to the other toilet. I thought I’d best tell a member of staff. Passing was a senior nurse (I know her name of the hospital wants to know) and I was shocked at her response. “not my problem, use another toilet” This is a&e dealing with clinical vulnerable patients, they could walk into the urine, back onto their hospital bed, the nurses/doctors could touch the patient or bed/bedding, get urine on theirs hands and then spread germs around a&e. I was shocked. So much so I went to reception, and told the receptionist. She was equally horrified and immediately went to find a cleaner. The poor cleaner spent ages cleaning the toilet and even had to come out and take a breather as it was so bad. To top it off, a doctor came into see my mother and his words where, “you seem fine, you can go home”. I explained my mother has been admitted into hospital on 4 occasions with the same issue. He said “we are an acute hospital, once we feel you are better you go home. If you’re not happy see your gp, they can get her blood pressure down”. I was so annoyed (yet I didn’t show it!). I said they needed either to get my mother to see a cardiologist, even if it was followed up with an outpatient appointment, as I felt the Alex was always passing the buck. He agreed, albeit grudgingly, to get the cardiologist to see my mother. Several hours later, via AMU, then being transferred to cardiology, we’ve still haven’t seen the cardiologist doctor. The nurse on the wards, up until now have been very good, especially in AMU. I couldn’t fault them. My concern is the total disregard in A&E for patients health and welfare, and the disgusting lack of cleanliness and of potential cross contamination risk.

  9. Review titled Poor aftercare

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2024

After having a biopsy done in Jan 2023 due to prostrate issues, it took over 7 weeks to get the results back. I was finally diagnosed with a large prostrate and advised the consultant would contact me in October to discuss the findings. This was then cancelled and put back to January 16th. After receiving texts not to miss the phone consultation appointment, I had a text on the 15th to say the consultant appointment was cancelled. I then had to contact the hospital to find out why and was told another appointment would be arranged. On the 16th I had a text to say not to miss the appointment, but if the appointment was already cancelled, to ignore the text?! Since having the results back in March, there has been a complete lack of aftercare and as there are constant adverts about prostrate cancer and knowing a childhood friend is dying from it, it is worrying. You never know though, I may one day get to speak to a consultant, but I wont hold my breath.

  10. Review titled Excellent service in A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lyn James - Posted on 31 January 2024

Shout out to the excellent care and attention shown to my mom yesterday in the whole of the A&E department following a fall outside school hurting the whole of her left side and being unable to weight bear. She was seen and sent to X-ray very quickly and all of the staff took great care to make sure she was kept as comfortable as possible. We absolutely appreciate how very hard they all work and the pressure the staff are under, thank you to the whole team from both my mom and myself, you are all amazing
