  1. Review titled Horrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 March 2024

Emergency department is absolutely horrible. 12.02.2024 my husband had a strong kidney pain and no painkillers didn't help him. We were waiting 7 hours in the queue and I asked nurse for a bed for him, he couldn’t sit on the chair, she told me in a rude tone that she could not do anything, while there were empty beds in the corridor. The staff are rude, specially Indian nurses, no one is willing to help. It's just awful. Lots of staff, but they don't really do anything to help you. Medical service is terrible! Why do we pay such taxes for?

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to share with us the experience your husband had recently in the Emergency Department. I was very sorry to read that the standard of care fell short of what we aspire to deliver on this occasion. We would be happy to look into this further for you should you wish to contact the PALS team by email at mtw-tr.palsoffice@nhs.net or phone at 01622 224960. Kindest Regards, Lianne PALS Team Leader

  3. Review titled Minor injury care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 March 2024

I visited the minor injuries unit 24 hours after a fall. This was due to continuing pain and swelling in my wrist, knee and ribs and concern in relation to osteoporosis. The triage was efficient and the wait for a consultation was not too long. I was treated kindly and everything was explained to me. Fortunately I had no broken bones and was reassured. Everything 10 out of 10. Thank you.

Been referred twice by Dr since September 23... still no appointment , Gp at Wits end too, no reply , no appointment and they never answer phone , tried dozens of times in last few weeks, am and pm just rings out...GP secretary is now going to try and contact them... and at the other end of this is a person in pain who could get help if only they cared .

  5. Review titled Attentive staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Colin Downing-Waite - Posted on 18 March 2024

I was disappointed to have my surgery due in February 2024 cancelled at short notice, without a reason and had to wait over 3 weeks for a new date for surgery. I feel your procedure of having to ring the day before, in a dedicated one hour slot (which was engaged for 35 minutes) to obtain your admission details, adds to the stress of a hospital admission. I was lucky that I had family who were available to take me whatever time I needed to arrive. If you are someone that has to rely on getting to the hospital via taxi or public transport, then finding out your time slot just a matter of hours before you are due to arrive could make it very difficult to plan travel arrangements. My local NHS Trust always provides you with a letter in advance of planned surgery advising you of your admission time and ward details for the day of your procedure. I feel this is far preferable. However, I couldn't fault the excellent staff in the short stay surgical unit whilst waiting for my operation. I'd also like to thank the entire medical team on Cornwallis Ward , where I was transferred to after the operation, for their attention and the care I received. They provided thorough explanations for all the procedures I needed and answered any questions I had, in great detail. Also the staff in the discharge lounge who collected me from the ward and kept my amused until my family arrived. Thank you Maidstone Hospital.

Dear Mr Downing-Waite Thankyou for your feedback and taking the time to share your experience with us. I was sorry to read that your surgery was delayed and the problems you experienced when contacting the admission department. I have today shared your feedback with the admission management team to highlight this to them for any actions to be undertaken to improve patient experience. It was wonderful to read your kind words about the excellent staff on the Short Stay Surgical unit and Cornwallis Ward and I was pleased that you were kept amused whilst waiting to be collected by your family. I will forward these kind words to the ward teams who I know will appreciate this feedback. Thankyou once again. Best wishes Sylvia PALS officer

The first call from the hospital was on Tuesday 5th March and had a appointment the same day for a x ray this was carried out with so much expertise by lovely staff. My next appointment was for a CT scan on Saturday the 9th March and this was very quick and easy again the staff were exceptional. My appointment with the urology dept was on Friday 15 March and can only say that this was carried out by lovely staff and the doctor was very professional and put me at ease with my examination. I can only say that the staff at Maidstone hospital are truly exceptional and caring.

  9. Review titled Horrible Place - stuff of nightmares!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 February 2024

Wasted five hours with possible sepsis at this hideous place. The staff are brusque and simply don’t listen. Nobody actually seems to care and nobody takes responsibility for you. Just left in a corridor for hours in pain with no information watching people coming in after you being seen. Actually gave up and went home in the end. The ceiling in the waiting room had collapsed and was just left all over the floor and chairs. Waiting times hadn’t been updated for two days and the general sense of decay and indifference is palpable. Horrible, horrible place!!
