  1. Review titled It's a shamble

Rated 1 star out of 5

Rushed in by ambulance to Lincoln County, got there 11.45pm. People everywhere, being sick, fainting, on drips and falling. After triage I was put in the waiting room (at least 40 people) where I stayed for 10 hours before seeing a doctor. Then moved to yet another hour and waited 2 hours for a chest x-ray. another hour for results and another hour for a prescription. Waiting room was uncomfortable hot and the staff run off their feet. Was given no reassurance or comfort despite struggling to breath. I really hope I never have to experience that again

  2. Review titled War zone

Rated 1 star out of 5

My husband was taken to A&E last night. For a 'refurbished' unit, the waiting area was extremely cold due to the double sliding doors on the unit and lobby, the chairs were very uncomfortable, not a problem if you're there for an hour or so but that is clearly not the case. It was dirty, drinks spilled on the floor. The men's loos were out of action, meaning there was only one toilet in the area. It's clearly used as the local youth club. We witnessed 6 security guards escorting one woman out of the department, there were at least 4 police officers present, and yet the youth club element remained uncontested. People had been waiting for hours when we got there, we heard one elderly gentleman, in his pyjamas, being told it was a 40 hour wait for a bed. We then had to wait for hours to be seen. The staff, aside from the ladies who brought round tea at about 1.00am, were cold and disinterested, the admin staff were more interested in each other, their mobile phones and form filling than interacting with patients. We're given to understand this chaos is business as usual...it shouldn't be. At one point, we were in a consult room and three different members of staff came into the room to use the computer, borrow supplies or ask questions of the doctor. At no time was any reassurance given to the frightening experience my husband was going through. Finally we left at 2.00am, without blood tests or results, or prescribed medication, which we were told we could only collect from the hospital pharmacy which was closed. The whole experience was terrifying.

  5. Review titled Appointments cancelled and discharged

by Rebecca Orzac - Posted on 20 October 2023

My telephone appointment that was booked never materialised, I then received a letter stating that my appointment booked for Monday is also cancelled (not that I was aware I had one on the first place) and I have been discharged back to the care of my GP. All of this with no contact, no colonoscopy, although I am supposed to have one annually!

Had a surgical procedure yesterday on the Urological Ward yesterday 12/10 . Who’s not slightly reticent when anaesthetics are involved? I was looked after royally as soon as I entered the building.Thank you for all your expertise and kindness, from the ward sister and her team, through the anaesthetists and theatre doctors and nurses, to the recovery team! So professional. We are blessed to have such a fine hospital in our area! Sorry apparently I am not allowed to mention individuals, you know who you are .

  8. Review titled My doctor referred me for an URGENT Cariologist appointment. ref

    by Ronnie1962 - Posted on 25 December 2023

My referral was supposed to actioned within 14 working days. This was then extended to 75 days and then an estimated 15 months. Each of the first two deadlines passed with no contact from the NHS. I had to phone the hospitals for an update. The receptionists I spoke to weren't interested in the length of the delay. The third extension was just ridiculous. I was eventually seen six months after my original GP appointment.

Dear Ronnie1962 I am sorry that you were not seen within a suitable timeframe for your cardiology appointment. Demand for cardiology appointments is a huge pressure at the moment and as such our waiting times for new and follow up patients are delayed. We are working on reducing this delay by undertaking pathway improvement work within our speciality which we hope will reduce the wait times for patients and make our pathways clearer for primary care to access. I was disappointed to read that our staff were not understanding with regards to the length of your wait. If you have any issues going forward with cardiology appointments, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sally Miller Clinical Services Manager Cardiovascular Medicine Mobile: 07849 836220

  9. Review titled Let down badly

by Steven Simmons - Posted on 07 September 2023

Had eye surgery booked for 7.9.23 They previously cancelled 17.8.23, Letting me know 16 hours before. Doctor I’ll, so fair enough there. Today, having flown back specially, I got a text reminder on Sunday 3rd Arrived at 8 am at the reception, as instructed, only to be told. Eye surgery cancelled!!!! No explanation, just a verbal apology. They have all my details! Would a text or phone call to advise of their problem have been expecting too much?? It would have saved two oap’s having to waste 50 miles of driving! Not to mention the stress. Still heard nothing from anybody.! Very disappointed that nobody has yet took charge or shown any concern.

  10. Review titled Surgical Day Care Unit - Hernia operation

by Dean Fairweather - Posted on 03 August 2023

Just had an inguinal hernia operation done at John Coupland Hospital under local anaesthetic and from my initial consultation 3 weeks ago to the operation yesterday I can honestly say the whole team were fantastic. The team were professional but had a friendly and caring approach which put me at ease for my operation. They had the time to explain everything that was happening and I never felt rushed, they really couldn't have done more for me. The consultant was brilliant, such a skilled and efficient surgeon and a really nice chap too. I even received a follow up call from a nurse the next day to see how I was getting on after my operation! If I ever need another hernia operation in the future John Coupland Hospital will be my first choice without doubt. Thank you so much to all the team in the Surgical Day Care Unit!
