  1. Review titled Sleep disturbed too early in the morning

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sophie Louise Edon - Posted on 17 April 2024

When I was put in ward 37 on the 14th April I noticed a lot of things, the food was not good but the biggest issue I had was on the 15th at 6am in the morning, I got woken up at 6 am in the morning for a blood pressure cuff thing by a black nurse, seemed to be the most disrespectful nurse in that ward for not letting me sleep, I end up with a migraine because of it, my epilepsy can give me migraines or headaches if my sleep is disturbed, i didn’t get enough sleep at all so when I went home later that same day I went straight to bed and felt relieved, something needs to be done about the nurses disturbing patients too early in the morning which doesn’t feel right at all and it’s disturbing the patients privacy, I can say ward 37 is one of the worst wards I’ve ever been in, Thursday I’m back in for more tests and I’m hoping I don’t get woken up at 6am ever again If im sleeping over again, apart from the black nurse everyone else was fine since they let me sleep

  2. Review titled Disabled Parking

Rated 4 stars out of 5

While driving around the Carpark’s on site for over 45 minutes in an attempt to look for a disabled space with my mum, who is in a wheelchair, I was absolutely appalled and frustrated to find at least 10 staff vehicles all with South Tees badges displayed in their windscreens parked in disabled spaces without displaying a blue badge!!! Come on James Cook, surely you are more than aware that this is happening on a daily basis, you must have the staff’s registration numbers logged to enable the parking enforcement officers to contact the departments to move their cars! Personally I would name and shame them! These staff members are clearly breaching NHS shared trust values within the NHS constitution, and they must be held accountable

  3. Review titled Great care from every member of staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a routine checkup in the oncology department today and am so grateful for excellent care and service from every single person I meet at James Cook. I unfailingly feel listened to and cared for; no worry is too small and nothing seems to be a problem for anyone. I am very confident in the care that I receive and appreciate all the work that goes into this.

Thank you for the excellent care given during my recent vascular surgery. I couldn’t speak more highly of the team and the aftercare on Ward 28. Everyone involved in my surgery and afterwards on Ward 28 conveyed a genuine interest and regard for my well being

  7. Review titled Brilliant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had my second Prostate Transperineal Biopsy yesterday at James Cook yesterday, a sensitive and undignified procedure but the team were totally reassuring, sensitive, professional but informal. I thank them but would also want to say to "us blokes", don't be embarrassed seeking help over our "bits". Our fears are their bread and butter and they were just brilliant! Thanks. Bob

  8. Review titled Not quite great nursing care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Short admission for removal of bladder tumour pre assessment fine all staff friendly and helpful. Problems after surgery three times in the night bed was soaken due due catheter leaking as draining bag was full to the brim and obviously causing back pressure “ I should point out I am a retired nurse with 47 years experience and worked in urology theatre and on the wards” My biggest moan is when I was told “ Darling you have to do a big wee wee before we can let you go home It’s rather obvious staff feel anyone of an old age must be suffering from cognitive impairment. Holistic approach to the nursing staff is either anathema or an enigma I don’t know,on a lighter note the food served or rather thrown at you was awful.

  9. Review titled Exceptional life savers

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband was transferred by blue light ambulance from Durham for an urgent procedure. From the moment we arrived on 16/2/24 until discharge from Coronary Care Unit on 19/2/24 the care was outstanding. Every member of the team work like a well oiled machine, they’re compassionate, sympathetic and superb at their job. We were obviously terrified at the thought of what was happening on our arrival, but the team explained everything and put us at ease. The care on this unit is phenomenal and deserves high praise. Even on discharge day, all members of the cardiac team updated my husband on what to expect, how to cope with any challenges and gave him time to ask questions. This is how the National Health Service should be.
