  1. Review titled Excellent A&E team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an eye emergency and went to the A&E department after 11:30 pm. The Registrar asked me questions about my symptoms-courteous, professional and efficient doctor. He checked my eye and let me know what I had to do. Thanks so much!

  2. Review titled Great team I had a Colonoscopy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jay - Posted on 07 April 2024

My 1st time in a hospital & for a Colonoscopy. The Surgeon & team were brilliant. I was nervous so I'd like to reassure you that there's nothing to fear. The team greeted me in a relaxed environment. A lovely person came to give me a gown & knee length dignity shorts, so nothing is on show. A nurse came to put a cannula in & was caring & asked if I had any questions. The doctor doing the Colonoscopy came & discussed the procedure with me & was reassuring, kind & professional & answered my questions very patiently. This doctor is a surgeon & from the start I knew I'd be in good hands. I opted only for gas and air Etonox & for me it was totally fine & there was hardly any discomfort. Only when the scope went round a corner was there some intense discomfort, not pain, that lasted a few seconds & the doctor was reassuring & encouraging through this which helped. The best way I can describe the procedure feeling is like a vacuum hoover suctioning your insides. I didn't need much Entonox, 1st at the start & mostly when I 'thought' I'd feel pain but didn't & then at the one corner turn. I watched most on the screen as it's fascinating to see my anatomy & the surgeons skills. When any biopsies were taken I felt nothing & is amazing to see being done. The procedure finished, the doctor checks I'm ok & told me all was fine & no cancer was seen. Regards the Moviprep, don't be worried, I had a salty lemon flavour which I drank unchilled using a straw. (Without straw is not nice). I sucked 5 fairly big gulps to the back of my mouth every 15 mins whilst thinking hard of my favourite foods as a distraction & I got through it in 40 mins. As soon as the toilet trips start the drink leaves your body so any sick feeling goes away (I felt sick briefly after last drink) I sat on the toilet for an hour and 35 mins it just comes out so no point getting up. I've been used to a lot of diarrhoea as one of my symptoms & that was worse than this prep diarrhea, because the prep you don't have much solids in your stomach. When it was over I washed but standing & moving did make it come out again. I started drinking at 8pm, finished at 8.50 pm then on toilet til 10.35 pm & then slept. Next morning I drank the litre in 30 mins & was not on the toilet for long. I wash rather than use paper so no soreness. I hope to try & reassure anyone don't be afraid of the process, the prep is not nice but tolerable & the Colonoscopy was very tolerable. Everyone looked after me & were amazing, skilled & caring professionals. In some countries they don't offer this procedure as it's not affordable. So I felt grateful for having this. I'm in awe of the skills of the Surgeon & team. Thanks very much. I would highly recommend this hospital & the Endoscopy team. I feel that a Colonoscopy is a short & very tolerable process for peace of mind & for treating any diagnosis sooner rather than later. So please don't cancel or put this off if you need to have one.

  3. Review titled Great Staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

We went to AnE yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised by the very helpful and attentive nature of one of the receptionists. She made eye contact! I am so glad that she was the one who dealt with us. Unfortunately, the other receptionist was the usual rude, not making eye contact and very concerned that I was behind the green line, in spite of no other patients being nearby/in line. We were seen very quickly and then the nurse who took vitals was also very helpful and attentive. I think both these staff members should be an example for others to follow. This will make the overall patient experience far more bearable, given that patients are usually in a distressed state when they arrive.

  5. Review titled horrible experience

this hospital A&E and some of the doctors are literately a disaster. i do not even know where to begin with but the fact that how they pass you from A&E to a different apartment in hospital then again they tell you to go back to GP and then again if you have an issue back to A&E is a joke. they not only don't care about you as a human they certainly care about the way they perform as an doctor to write only one sentence as a note after been taking by the ambulance to A&E i have no words for that. and then give you an appointment for 2 weeks time while you are suffering from the issue you have what the hospital put me through is another thing and the fact that they put my mothers name as mine and my mothers GP address as mine too like how can you make mistakes like this in an hospital emergency apartment how where you trained this is one job you have to do. i really wonder how some of them became doctors and how some of them are even working in an hospital i dont get it. waiting 6 hours in A&E and then not even get treated for what u went there for how do you explain that. i have an issue with a problem and my GP tells me you have to go to hospital and hospital tells me go to A&E i go wait 6 hours and do get get treated for what i went there what is this. the worst service absolutely horrible 2 doctors for 50 patience no room available nothing is been done correctly nothing they give wrong information they write down wrong notes they advice you wrongly like is this all a joke. nothing is improving

  6. Review titled Communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Although I appreciate having a few tests and MRI scan. It would have been nice for the ENT department to have discussed the scan in person, address/answer some of the questions I had. As I still get fluctuating ear pain along with 24/7 tinnitus, I do not always process auditory sounds. They seemed to lack knowledge on different types of dizziness and not taken into account the severe episode of dizziness I had, which lasted hours, I loss balance and couldn't lift my arms and I had to another person to help me. They made some random phone call appointment that I didn't know was happening, because I was unable to answer they discharged. Previous appointments the DR didn't have access to all my records. Appointments are not clear what they are for. Couple of appointments I have left feeling stressed out. I now feel like I need to save up and go private, so I can have a quality discussion with an ENT consultant .

  7. Review titled Excellent care but let down by infant feeding advice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My daughter recently had an otherwise exceptional experience of maternity care at West Middlesex Hospital. However i think it is important to feedback how disappointing it is that on two occasions during the first night she was asked if she wanted the baby to be given formula. The baby was term and healthy but was sleepy during the first 24 hours. This was undermining at a time when my daughter was particularly vulnerable. She was given no rationale for this advice.

  8. Review titled Wonderful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My 96 year old Mother was referred by her GP surgery for emergency care yesterday morning and we went straight to the West Middlesex. Although there were queues we were seen quickly and referred to one of the senior doctors who also saw Mum in good time and organised tests and treatment. From start to finish, everyone we saw was thoroughly professional and acted with great care. My Mother and all the family can’t thank you enough for everything you did. We were home yesterday late afternoon and she is much improved today. Thanks again for your wonderful care.

The ambulance has token my daughter to A&E first of all the pace where my daughter wad admitted was very dirty with tray and cup of coffee and spilled coffee on the floor and some and someone took the tray and the cup and they told us that someone will come and clean it now but no body came and the room was dirty The doctor examined the patient and said her lungs are infected and she discharged her without any treatment even they don’t let the serum fluids to finish and send her back home that was ver frustrating for her when we got home her problem got worse and worse and we had contact again 111 and they advised to go back to A&E It was our second time that we experienced this situation in this hospital and we are vary disappointed about this kind of service that they offered us
