  1. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Today I had a lesion removed in main theatres under local anaesthetic. The staff in day procedure unit were efficient and kind, the staff in plastics theatre were really great, professional and very friendly. A really good experience, very reassuring.

  3. Review titled Surgical SDEC = great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew - Posted on 28 March 2024

So impressed with and grateful to the staff in Surgical SDEC. Brought in as a genuine emergency I didn't touch the sides in the dreaded A&E (now pointlessly renamed ED just to confuse everyone) but was whizzed through and got the virtually immediate help I needed. Tbf I was in a bit of a state ;) They sorted me out and paid for my taxi home, thank you so much. The registrar then took the trouble to call at 22.00 that night to say my bloods were dodgy and they needed to see me again, great attention to detail. The very young junior doctor who then saw me was kind, gentle, scarily knowledgeable and went the extra mile to find a better solution for me than the default. All the nurses and assistants were super-competent and friendly. Thanks again to them all.

  4. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was due for a gastroscopy at the Quadram Institute which was brought forward because of a cancellation. Reception was welcoming and efficient. All clinical staff I saw were superb especially with the insertion of the cannula for sedation. The staff performing the procedure were friendly and reassuring, afterward recovery everything was explained clearly. The whole process was faultless and efficient, the staff were wonderful and the building is clean, new and pleasant to be in. A credit to the NHS its creator.

  5. Review titled Failing Hospital

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Following an unexpected emergency operation I spent 12 days recovering in Dilham Ward. The staff try their best the nurses are kind but the place is in a complete chaotic state, you waited ages to be attended too, so short staffed, medications delayed so many staff can only do certain things it’s all a mess. However my main concern is the cleanliness of the patients toilets absolutely disgusting I’d rather have used a public toilet in the high street. The drain was blocked with goodness knows what it was vile the wet room flooded into the main hall, the toilet was filthy and the smell was unbearable. I was in hospital with bowel related issues which meant I spent a lot of time in there unfortunately so I know it wasn’t cleaned properly. Doctors and nurses also need to correspond with each other better, doctor tells you what they’re planning for you but it doesn’t get relayed to staff treating you It’s a shame because as I say nurses do their best but you can tell the NHS is ruined shortage of staff and clearly no one wanting to recruit and become nurses I pray it’s a long time before I have to go in again and if I did I think I’d look to try and go private next time

Entering A and E i was quickly seen and monitored and paperwork obtained and sent through to be seen for the next stage. Treatment for a suspect heart attack was given and concluded. The staff were wonderful.

  7. Review titled The staff here show contempt towards patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother has been denied basic rudimentary care on the grounds the staff could not be bothered. She is in a wheelchair and was scolded when she asked for someone to take her to the toilet. The staff are outright verbally abusive to a disabled elderly woman, and outright will refuse to do their jobs. Staff will cover for each other's gross misconduct and scold a patient further for bringing this misconduct to the attention of relevant authorities. They think it's appropriate to send someone home when they're an old woman who is screaming in utter agony after a fall and hit to the head and possibly a broken hip. The way the staff in this department both refuse to do their jobs and speak abusively to a patient, especially a scared and vulnerable elderly patient, is utterly disgusting. They should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I have sympathy for the systemic issues but this staff misconduct is inexcusable. It's abusive, medical negligence, malpractice, gross misconduct, and immoral. Do better.

Took my 4 year old son to A and E which turned out to be scarlet fever, the staff were brilliant and looked after him extremely well. Made my son feel very comfortable and relaxed. Great communication once we left hospital the following day.

  10. Review titled Amazing rapid, professional and caring service.

I found my 90 year old mother with breathing difficulties on the morning of Christmas Eve. I sought help and an ambulance arrived within 5 minutes and treated and took her to hospital. She was seen straight away in a&e and I sat with her. She saw several doctors and nurses all of which treated her with great kindness and respect. She later transferred to the acute medical unit. At all times the staff kept us informed of her condition and what they were doing including asking her about her treatment options in a patient and calm manner. She was clearly very poorly and sadly died in the early hours of Christmas morning. I was able to be with her in a single side ward and stay with her after her death until I was ready to leave her. I felt really supported by all the staff. It was a sad outcome but I understand that doctors have not found a cure for mortality and she was able to have a peaceful and ‘good death’
