  1. Review titled Great for cancer issues, terrible for cardiology

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 April 2024

My mum has been sat in another ward for nearly 3 weeks with a diagnosed heart issue but no visit or next steps from the Cardiology department. Even the current ward, or her cancer doctor can get cardiology to confirm next steps. No cardiology doctor has spoken to her, confirmed her Bradycardia, or confirmed next steps (pace maker). Cardiology ward seems to be closed?! She is sat unable to move in the hospital, and has zero information.

  2. Review titled Excellent Maternity Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michelle - Posted on 11 April 2024

Maternity services have been excellent. Our son was delivered by emergency C section on the 05th April 2024, 10 weeks early. All staff have been amazing both prior to and after our little one was Born. Neonatal are caring for our little miracle and they are doing an excellent job and keeping us informed at all times of what is happening or what is going to happen! He really couldn’t be in a better place. I am so grateful for everyone’s assistance and for them ensuring that our son arrived into the world safely, we will forever be in the debt of The Royal Devon & Exeter.

  4. Review titled Very Efficient

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sue - Posted on 24 March 2024

I had a fall yesterday and damaged my wrist, I was taken to Accident and Emergency and triaged very quickly, sent straight to x-ray then had about a 15 minute wait to see a practitioner who confirmed a fracture. My wrist was plastered and I was given all necessary information. All this was done quickly and efficiently. Thank you!

Rang, short notice with an issue. Was admitted, XRayed, bloods, blood pressure, seen by a doctor. Even had a cup of tea and a sandwich. The nurses were wonderful, Xray department was efficient and pleasant. I felt safe, cared for and really well looked after. Angels all!! 😇😍

  6. Review titled Incredible care and support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 06 April 2024

My son was born by C-section on 28/3/24 and I wanted to express my appreciation for all staff that took care of us from the midwives, support staff, nurses, doctors and anaesthetists. Everyone we came into contact made us feel supported and heard and nothing was ever too much to ask. It must be such a challenging job working on a maternity ward where there are so many people needing so much support, with all the anxiety that goes along with having a new baby, and staff were always patient and empathetic despite this. Thank you all so much. Happy Easter. x

  7. Review titled No wheelchairs

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Tracey - Posted on 07 March 2024

There are never any wheelchairs at the main entrance. Can the porters not have it in there job description to drop wheelchairs back throughout the day. Very frustrating when trying to get to appointment at the other end if the hospital, thank you

by Jordon - Posted on 06 April 2024

Have been here multiple times in alot of pain and am always getting sent away without a scan even though i go on weekdays when its not busy at all, they just want to send you back to your gp all the time even though I explained im getting nowhere with my gp and am in alot of pain and not eating or sleeping and its getting worse, my bloods are abnormal to and I just can't get any help, so now I have to pay out hundreds of pounds for private scans so thanks for that.

  9. Review titled Rude rude reception staff.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2024

I rang up the hospital yesterday and spoke to the “operator”. She was so incredibly rude. The call was 1.24pm- should you wish to listen to it. I asked her if she could tell me where my uncle is, she said she would put through to patient relation or something similar to that. Before transferring me she said “maybe you should ask his family”!!!! She transferred me as soon as she finished saying it so I didn’t have chance to reply. What a disgusting thing to say to someone who’s worried about a family member- I am his family! I’m his niece!!! And what an accusation to make after I’ve spoken just 1 or 2 sentences to her, and I was very polite. After being transferred to the next lady, she was also rude in her tone. I get she has to abide by the rules, I just don’t know why they have to be so harsh. My uncle is nearly 90. He’s very poorly. My dad (his brother) has been to his house twice and hospital once with no luck of finding him. Eventually I was told he has been moved to ‘emergency accommodation’ yet would not tell me where as i am not his next of kin. We believe his next of kin is either an ex wife he hasn’t been married to for years and years or his daughter who’s turned up in his life in the last year after 40 years of no contact, after finding out my uncle has dementia. She is keeping my uncles whereabouts a secret due to her worry of his assets etc. We just want to see my uncle before he dies. My dad is absolutely heart broken he could potentially never see his family again, and all the while your employees are making snarky comments without knowing the whole situation. After hanging up the phone I cried. I couldn’t believe how I was just spoken to. I understand that there are rules in place to protect patients etc but you can still speak to someone nicely. I spoke to both of them nicely throughout. You can listen to the phone call and hear.

  10. Review titled Wonderful care under often difficult circumstances

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Denise Hughes - Posted on 07 February 2024

Cancer diagnosis is not a happy thing. But mine was made less bad by the kindness, thoughfulness and expertise shown to me by every single person I had contact with. From the people at the reception, to the nurses, medical and surgical staff, caterers, cleaners, every singe one was always willing to go the extra mile. I still have a long way to go on my journey (so has His Majesty and Good Luck to him) but I can face that journey now knowing that I will be in safe hands. A humbling experience, I am a retired nurse myself and I just hope that when I was working, I sometimes reached the levels of care shown by all of these marvellous people.
