Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Charlotte Cotterell - Posted on 15 February 2024

Have been attending the antenatal clinic throughout my pregnancy and the staff from all the departments have been amazingly supportive throughout my journey and the lovely receptionist made me feel so welcome every time and it really makes a difference especially when this was all new to me. Thank you :)

The theatre staff were very professional very friendly, they showed great respect and showed gtreat humour at times. This make be feel at ease. I would like to thank all of the staff in St Michaels ward.Especially the two ladies that looked after me through my stay and went the extra mile.Unfortunately I am not allowed to mention names but they know who they are. Thanks again to all at St Michaels

  4. Review titled Overall Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Briony Duval - Posted on 05 August 2023

I had the most amazing midwives during my birth, I was induced and the midwife was nothing but supportive throughout and was completely led by me but also I felt I was able to tell my midwife how I wanted them to react in a certain situation. I tried to give birth naturally for 12hrs before an emergency c section and the care I received from my midwife was absolutely amazing. The second midwife took over for her shift and supported me through the c section, she was reassuring and extremely calm. The theatre team and doctor who delivered my baby were extremely calm throughout the c section, explained absolutely everything, played my selected music and ensured I was informed of what was happening the whole way through. I couldn’t have had a better experience and they all got my baby here safe. I also had to be readmitted after I was discharged due to my baby having jaundice, the wards were amazing and supported me through the night when needed hands on or just advice when asked, no hesitation. When it was time to be discharged the midwife and the NICU nurse, despite being extremely busy on the ward, supported to get me home as I requested that same night with all of the meds, advice and care I needed. Please feel free to share this review with the midwives that looked after me, you can email me if you need any more information in order to find them.

  5. Review titled Exemplary treatment and care received

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I found the hospital staff kind, caring and having a myosure procedure to remove fibroids and polyps, I now have my quality of life back and am so thankful to the wonderful staff who cared for me.

  6. Review titled Insensitive and unprofessional

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 March 2023

They didn’t read the notes on why I was there for a scan and treated me like a normal pregnancy when infact I’m on very dangerous medication that means no choice in pregnancy, a termination must be had. Extremely insensitive to the situation which was hard enough to go through, let alone someone trying to show you what they can see.

  7. Review titled Endoscopy Booked In For tomorrow

Rated 1 star out of 5

Not feeling very comfortable or confident from experience so far and response. Rude, uncaring staff already just from admin and reception. Clearly don't listen when they called to book me in a few weeks ago specially when inform them about health conditions and medication. Was told not to take any medication when booked in despite being on Beta Blockers, told been told I can take it not very professional or clear with instructions. Receptionist clearly don't take any notice of what you said and put me through to Broomfield hospital despite telling them appointment was at Braintree, almost impossible to get through to the department thankfully help of Broomfield hospital I finally got through, but the response from Braintree isn't good experience at all, feel extremely nervous and uncomfortable about attending this appointment tomorrow to say the least.

  8. Review titled Amazing neonatal care but needed clearer explanation

    by izarmc53 - Posted on 17 February 2023

Was told at 12 week scan that our son would be born with gastroschisis (intestines outside of his body). I was so anxious and doctors couldn’t tell us how bad it may be. He was born then 5 weeks early, we were never told there was a chance of this. Just happened! Was sent to Bristol - St Michaels Hospital, where he was born and had to be put on oxygen, nil by mouth for the first week and surgery at only 5 days old. He was then fed through a tube in his nose for the first month & then we went to Musgrove Hospital in Taunton, where he was finally taken off the oxygen. After 5/6 weeks, we finally were discharged. The care was amazing to be honest, can’t fault any of the nurses or doctors. However at Musgrove they could have just been a bit clearer with us regarding his care, understanding we’re parents and not medical professionals. Had to ask for a clearer explanation which they did provide.

  9. Review titled Very poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

Came on to ward 78 and already the staff was rude. I was put next to a couple of women who was pregnant after hrs of losing my baby. I was not given a jug of water, and I just missed breakfast was not offered anything to eat even Though the ward Knew I been waiting hours to come on the ward. The staff was hanging around the desk like kids taking the mick out of people. Lunch time I was not given nothing to eat and staff was laughing behind my back making me feel really uncomfortable and I just lost my baby 3 hrs beforehand and I felt depressed and having the staff laughing at me for some reason made me feel a lot worse. I had a scan and was not told nothing about the out come in the end I had to ask someone when I could go home for a doctor to come and gave me the results and that was 5 hrs after the scan. The staff was getting worse towards me I felt like I was in school being Bullied I felt the depression getting worse the doctor said I should stay but refused. I rang my friend to come and get me. The nurse knew I was going and didn’t print my letter out till last minute so I had to wait I was on the phone to my friend who was waiting for me in tears. I will never go back to that ward
