  1. Review titled Sonographers are always running drastically behind

Rated 1 star out of 5

Have waited over 45 minutes to be called into a scan appointment with the sonographers. This has happened on a number of occasions and should not be allowed as if a patient is a mere few minutes late, they are turned away.

  2. Review titled I absolutely love Barking Birth Centre

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have had a wonderful experience so far with Barking Birth Centre from my booking appointment to all my scans and the oral glucose tests. The receptionists are very kind and helpful, and they give great directions as well. The sonographers, for both my 12 and 20 weeks scan were amazing and meticulous. The phlebotomists are very kind and listen to one's fears as I am afraid of needles. The midwives are kind, always smiling and great at explaining and answering questions. I was touched by the gentleness of the midwife that handled my booking. It was two hours of scientific and health conversation that I thoroughly enjoyed with her. The Centre is also spotless! Toilets are very clean. I have been there so many times and the toilets and the Centre are always very clean. They always pick up their phones to answer queries. The cherry on the cake is the free parking at the Birth centre. I pray that this will never change because we mothers and patients need it. We are already stressed with pregnancy. Having to look for parking and then pay exorbitant prices for it, is bound to increase anyone's stress levels. Thank you so far, Barking Birtth Centre.

  3. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

You would expect that a person would try their level best to avoid the expectant mother from having a negative and stressful experience. Especially when you are as clueless as me expecting my first baby. The support network at this place is rubbish. I have had to deal with rude and abrupt sonographers who show no care as to it being your first scan and how they handle you as well as patronising midwives who somehow feel very entitled to speak down to you and your partner when you ask any questions. I am far into my pregnancy and I am still as clueless as I was before pregnancy, constantly being made to feel as though there are not any facilities available to me such as physiotherapy because "its the NHS". I required support with stress I am undergoing as well as physical pains, but instead of being given some sort of sympathy and help, I am instead being told there is "nothing we can do" and that its up to me as the mother to look after myself. You have to be persistent with the staff to help you but only to hear that there is not much they can do. I am not sure what I imagined coming here but it definitely was not such a horrible, isolating and alienating experience. I am transferring my care and can only hope that my birthing experience is not as horrendous. The staff need to learn to be human above all and build connections with their patient rather than treating them so lowly. Whether you are a midwife, doctor or receptionist - being human matters before anything else. This time will only come about once, the least one can do is be nice during it. Definitely won't be making the same mistake of coming here again.

  4. Review titled Rude Receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Trying to organise obtaining a mat b1 form from the abbey Centre during my midwife appointment on Friday, you would think is as simple as the receptionist leaving a message for the midwife attending to bring along. Of course not, I was told to call on Friday morning and ''hopefully'' I will be able to get through to the midwife attending or my other options is to make a special trip at 34 weeks pregnant to attend Barking Birthing Centre to collect one. No compassion, I was also told the receptionist had someone in front of her needing an appointment so basically needed to get off the phone. Customer service training is needed, I would never dream of treating people like that at work, let along dealing with pregnant women in such a way.
