  1. Review titled Dreadful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 March 2024

My 82 year old dad has been trying to get an appointment for days by calling at 8.00am each day and waiting 45 mins to speak to someone. After being continuously told there were no appointments left but he could come and wait outside the following morning (shocking in itself) he walked the mile journey this morning and was first in the queue of around 6 or 7 others when my daughter who completely by chance arrived for an appointment with the nurse. She was appalled to find her papa waiting outside in the cold so early in the morning, knowing that he had walked there. He was eventually spoken to by a receptionist who told him to go home and she’d get a doctor to phone him before 6.00pm!! He then had to walk all the way home again and await a call. The fact that my dad is 82 and the receptionist had no idea what he was calling for but still thought it acceptable to tell him that he could come and wait outside if he wanted is absolutely horrifying in my opinion. His need thankfully in this case was not desperately urgent so would quite happily have taken an appointment in a day or 2 but no, it seems this is not possible. Now I expect that he like many others will put off phoning now even if the need is urgent which is exactly why A&E departments are at breaking point as GPs are not providing the service they should be. Beyond dissatisfied with this practice and are currently looking to try to have him registered elsewhere.

  2. Review titled Rude receptionist and very unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Stacey - Posted on 27 March 2024

I called for an apt for my partner, pressed for same day apt - automatic service says full and hangs up. I call enquiry line lady says I can't help for apts on this line and hangs up. I then call and see you can press 2 for booking an apt in advance of 4 weeks. I wait 18mins sane lady from enquiry line answer. Says I have no same day apt I said I've called thw advans one she says you've not??? I says I have the other one hangs up she says it does that when to many people are holding on the line? I said I was 33 in line on option to 2 to advance book she again called me a liar. Says she can't book on the day for a sick line as it's not an emergency but then says call again tomorrow at 8am for an apt? Why would I waste time calling again tomorrow for you to say you can't get an emergency apt for a sick line? He has been in hospital for a week and his work require a sick line? Eventually she booked an apt for the 5th of April her attitude towards me was shocking I wasn't at any point rude or cheeky and she spoke down to me.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I contacted the surgery this morning as I have either pulled a muscle or have fluid in my knee and I also have a droop on the left side of my face I had a stroke a few years ago which left me with a droop on my right hand side and left me with a weakness down my left hand side and the left hand side is where I've either pulled a muscle or have fluid on my knee I told the doctor about my leg being really sore then I told her about the droop being at the left hand side of my face now she told me strokes don't hurt so why was I not asked to get seen at the doctors I really am not happy about this especially the droop on the left hand side of my face now when it was on the right hand side of my face when I had my stroke a few years ago she didn't even tell me to go to the hospital and get checked out all she said was strokes don't hurt I am not happy about this at all

  4. Review titled Terrible: almost impossible to book an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 December 2023

Not enough staff to cover influx of patients. This is evident due to how long it can take to speak with a GP, I have tried for a week to get just a chance to speak to a receptionist let alone book an appointment, may consider changing practice.

Dear Patient, thank you for your feedback, my name is Mrs Ryder one of the management team. I am sorry that you have had an issue contacting a receptionist which would then have directed you to a call with a GP. We are extra busy this week in the run up to the Christmas break, we have only been offering book on the day appts to try and best treat those with acute issues than reviews. On the phone system we do offer a call back facility - once you reach a certain number in the queue you can request the call back and then it automatically calls once you are at the front of the queue. We also ensure all calls are cleared and no one left waiting in the queue. Sorry you feel you may consider changing practice. Kind Regards Mrs A Ryder

  5. Review titled Ignored for ages at reception

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 December 2023

All I wanted to do was to leave a consent letter. I stood at reception for 5 minutes and was ignored by both reception staff. So I had to say excuse me, I asked what I had to do with the letter, she said just put it there without making eye contact. Really unfriendly service.

Dear patient Thank you for your feedback, my name is Mrs Ryder and I am one of the 3 managers across the King Street surgery sites. I am sorry for your recent experience whereby you felt the receptionists ignored you. I would be interested to know which of our 3 sites you visited and the time and date so that I can speak with the staff on duty at that time. Please send this information over to myself via email alison.ryder4@nhs.net and I can look in to this for you Kind Regards Alison Ryder

  6. Review titled Why can appointments not be made on line?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2023

Sometimes an appt is needed but not immediately. Why is there no facility to book a future appt on line. The NHS web site looks like it is set up to do this, but not here yet?

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. We are looking in to offering online appointments. We would only be able to offer GP appts up to 2 weeks ahead due to national guidance. We also need to ensure that if we offer appts online that these are tailored for patients to book efficiently, eg our minor illness nurses are available when a GP is not always the right person to see the patient. We will be looking in to setting up the system Kind regards A Ryder Management Team

  7. Review titled Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

It is very hard to get an appointment on the phone even if you call at 08:30. I did this and was in a queue of in excess of 30 people. When I got through they were very helpful and the treatment I received was good.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

This is a highly effective and well structured process used by the surgery. It is an efficient use of everyone’s time - patients and professionals. I was very impressed by this system and the responsive and constructive response from the GP concerned. Please keep this system in place as an option for your patients. It reduces stress for everyone.
