Swimming is a great way to get your kids moving and having fun. It's also a skill that could save a life

Make a splash!

Swimming is a really good all-round exercise, and a fun way to be more active and stay healthy. Regular swims can reduce the risk of developing serious illnesses, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Being in the water also boosts your mood and helps you unwind — and there are lots of different strokes to try.

Here are a few tips before you jump in!

Remember, children playing in water should be supervised by an adult at all times. Be particularly careful in 'leisure pools' where there may be features like flumes, fountains and waves.

Go in squeaky clean

Make sure your kids have a shower before going in the pool so they're free from sweat and dirt. If they have long hair, make sure it's tied up or they wear a swimming cap.

Join a class or splash about?

Help your child learn to swim at their own pace. Ask about parent/toddler sessions and kids' swimming lessons at your local swimming pool.
