MyDesmond is an online self-management diabetes education programme.
It's designed to help people with type 2 diabetes and those at risk of developing type 2 diabetes care for their own diabetes in a positive way. You need to be referred by a GP to use MyDesmond.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone over the age of 16 with type 2 diabetes or at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
How does it work?
MyDesmond is based on the NICE approved face-to-face Desmond self-management programme.
Its features include:
- tracking your step and activity
- educational resources, including weekly interactive education modules
- tracking self-reported data on blood pressure, weight, BMI, healthy eating and smoking
- step challenges
- an Ask the Expert service
- chatting with other people in the community
- setting yourself goals
- inviting your family and friends to join the step challenges and access the education

How do I access it?
MyDesmond is an NHS service and relies on the commissioning of the service locally. It's free to use in over 60 sites across the UK.
