Exceptional.

I had a laparoscopy yesterday at Hallamshire and would like to express my gratitude to the staff and the consultant.

The staff in the operation theatre couldn't have been more considerate and caring.

Waking up from the general anestheic was the scariest part of the day however the nurse I woke up to was a godsend and made me feel at ease. The consultant who I cannot thank enough was also there to explain what was done.

After that I was moved to a ward for recovery and the nurses were constantly checking up and listening to me if I needed something.

Each and every member of staff who dealt with me were exceptional without exaggeration and I'm ever so thankful for their kindness and support. Had I knew I would receive outstanding service before my visit I wouldn't have been so apprehensive!!

Amazing care and kindness in gynecology.

Thank you so much to everyone on G2 for making my hysterectomy operation run so smoothly. The care, kindness and professionalism I received was amazing. After only 2 nights I was able to go home feeling well and fully able to cope. Once again a big thank you to Dr and all concerned with my operation and after care.

Rude nurses

The recptionist that I spoke to was lovely and very helpful. The place was clean and nice. However this was all ruined by the nurse I saw who was rather blunt and I felt like they didn't care. They appeared to be more annoyed that I had been referred instead of actually helping me. I felt like they brushed me off without much explanation or help. My mum came with me as I was rather nervous with it been my first colposcopy and I was nervous. She felt the same, like the nurse wasn't interested and was more irritated than anything. I would happily use this hospital again as long as I'm seen by someone with a better bedside manner.

Excellent visit today!

I went today for a run up of an appointment the staff were all so friendly and easy to talk to and I think it was possibly the best experience I have had in a hospital! I didn't feel nervous around the staff at all and they made me feel so at home! Would recommend this hospital so much!! Thank you again to the staff, you have been incredible today!! :-)

Put at ease

I arrived on the 1.2.17 for a hysterectomy, I felt nervous but was put at ease by the staff that work there the receptionist was warm and friendly to everyone that arrived and it was 7am.
The nurses were professional and made sure that I understood everything that was happening and at what time, the anethetist and consultant arrived for a chat before the operation and I felt more at ease.
After the operation I was looked after by a lovely member of staff in recovery who made sure I was comfortable and was checking on me constantly before I was moved to the ward.
All the staff on G2 that looked after me were friendly and respectful and I received excellent care on that ward.
Thank you to all involved.

Worst experience ever in Ward G2

I was transferred to this hospital by ambulance few months ago. I was having a miscarriage and had a heavy bleeding. The nurses in reception were joking together instead of assist me immediately, they even asked me to walk on my own to the room when i was layed and full of blood.
Had to wait a long time to be seen by a doctor and after that had to wait 6 more hours to have a scan and make sure if i miscarried or not. They left me unattented for hours alone in a cold room. Had to walk myself to the toilet without assistance when i could barely move. I was full of blood and in paid felt so humiliated.
The doctor brought a student to attend while they were cleaning me from clots, i've been never asked if i was agreed to have a student in the room while i was getting checked. The doctor didn't seem to sympathise with my situation. The doctor was also in a rush to see another patient, the doctor announced me of the miscarriage like it wasn't of any importance. Didn't actually receive any help or support from staff neither any advice on what i should do from then on. Only the nurse in charge seemed to care and explained me the whole miscarriage thing the nurse also offered me something to eat and to drink. I asked for a doctor's note which they said i would have but then the doctor disappeared they phoned them only to say that they forgot and i could complete a self certification instead. It was the worst experience i ever had in a hospital. Staff's behavior left me speechless and made me feel even worse about my situation. Not to mention that a week ago i insisted to book me a scan appointment cause i was lightly bleeding only to be said that it wasnt something to worry about. They didnt give the necessary importance back then either. I dont discourage anyone to use the service of this ward it is just a personal bad experience that had the need to share as i wasnt satisfied.

Theatre admission and gynaecology

I was recently admitted for TAH and BSO. I was quite anxious running up to my operation but from the moment i arrived at the TAU i was put at ease. Everyone was so kind and reassuring and explained everything that was about to happen. My surgeons and the anethetist came to talk to me to make sure i understood what was happening. Waiting to be called down after all the pre checks were done was quite a worry knowing it wouldnt be long, but i was soon put at ease again by the person who chatted whilst we walked down to theatre. I actually cant believe how calm i felt before being put to sleep. Before i knew it i was waking up in recovery and later moved to the ward. (although dont remember much about the time inbetween) The ward was very clean and staff very friendly and lthough very busy were always available if i needed them. The fact they were very busy did however make you feel you didnt want to bother them too much Thank you so much to everyone involved in my surgery and recovery both in the TAU and on the ward. The surgeons, the theatre staff, reception/admin and nursing staff and any other support staff.
