A nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit which is a first point of call for a wide range of minor injuries and minor illnesses.
A wide range of conditions can be treated for example:
- wounds needing stitches
- ear infections
- sprains and strains
- suspected broken bones
- bites and stings
- minor head injuries
- minor burns
- severe sore throats
- foreign bodies in the eye
Minor Injuries Units (MIUs) provide treatment for less serious injuries, such as sprains, cuts and grazes. Many people go to Accident and Emergency (A&E) with minor injuries, when they could be usually treated much more quickly at a Minor Injuries Unit.
You should attend A&E for serious and life-threatening conditions.
You do not need an appointment to visit the Leek Minor Injuries Unit.
