Important develoment to meet demand for appointments to see a doctor or nurse: The practice provides additional appointments in the evenings and weekends. These are bookable through our reception. You may be offered an appointment at a health centre or another GP practice in Coventry. They will have access to your notes held at this practice. These organisations are approved to provide services out of hours. This scheme is funded by the Prime Minister's challange fund money. This special funding has been provided to cope with ever rising demands for appointments. Please seriously consider using this facility.

The most important health messages are:

Do not smoke or get advice to help you stop.

Eat healthy - advice avilable.

Alcohol weekly allowance to avoid health issues - 14 units for women and 21 for men.

Reduce weight - advice on appropriate weight for your height available - it is essential to eat less than before if you wish to loose weight.

Participate in screening programmes: NHS health checks, cervical smears, bowel cancer screening, breast cancer screening.

Ensure that your children have had the recommended immunisations.

Making appointment system better - we are introducing telephone triage for patients requesting face to face consultation. Often the request is for prescription query or blood test results. These can be dealt with over the phone without need for a face to face consultation.

Diabetes reversed!

It is true: Diabetes type 2 can be reversed through healthy eating with smaller portions and increase in activity.A number of our patients have achieved this. Our star patient has reduced his HbA1C from 75 to 47. We normally diagnose Type two diabetes at 48 level. Congratulations to all these patients.

They foud our services to be safe, effective, caring, responsive to people's needs and well led. All these were rated as good.

Availability over Christmas and New Year period

The main surgery will be closed 25, 26, 27 December and 1and 2 January.

We have arranged cover during this period with the out of hours service. Please also be aware that NHS 111 help line is available for advice on your medical problem.

Friday 23 December and Friday 30 December - we will provide normal surgeries in the mornings.

The two afternoons will be allocated for emergencies / ungent issues only.

Saturday 24 December and Saturday 31 December - we will run the usual booked morning surgeries.

We have a number of comments relating to receptionists and car parking. We are keen to improve services and to do this we need further information to address the problem. May I please request that the person making the comment please as a separate action contat me , Dr Dalpat Mistry ( please leave a phone number in a sealed envelope addressed to Dr D Mistry confidential) so that I can fully understand the issues involved. In any case we have had a huge change in staff members.

We have been told that the car park will be made avialable in September.

Telephone appointments

We have introduced telephone appointments with doctor of your choice. Ring 76689343 as usual for this service.

Useful for: Discussing any follow up issues including blood tests, xrays and scans; Continuing sickness certificate for a known problem; Medicines review / reauthorisation if you have had recent blood tests or reviews with the nurse; and other issues you feel would be appropriate.
