Additional information

On the afternoon of the third Thursday of every month the surgery will be CLOSED from 12am to 6pm, and urgent cases will be dealt with via 111. Since the staff also receive training at these times, there will be no routine telephone lines open either. There will be a telephone message asking callers to call 111 for problems which cannot wait, or to call the surgery back the following day for routine matters.Thank you for your understanding over this change, we are complying with the best practice guidelines on updating GPs and Staff and have adopted the Durham CCG standard practice. As of the 4th of April we will no longer offer late doctors' appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday evenings and the surgery will close at 6.00pm on these days.

Cestia Health Centre Appointment System

Our normal surgery opening times are weekdays 8am to 6pm.  Outside these times, if you have a problem which cannot wait till we are open again, please call 111( less severe) or 999/A&E (severe) as appropriate.

If you need a consultation, please phone first whenever possible.  Of course, very ill patients and emergency cases will be seen as a priority by the on-call Doctor irrespective of however they made contact.

The reception team will ask for abrief information to pass onto the GP/murse practitioner.  This is very useful for the team to be able to direct you to the most appropriate person and help determine how quickly the problem is dealt with.  Your cooperation with this is appreciated.

Planned Pre- Bookable Appointments

These planned pre-bookable appointments are available up to 6 weeks ahead and are intended for non-urgent problems, and to provide follow up with a regular doctor.  Please phone 01913887771 to access these appointments.

The on call Team

For problems which can't wait till he next completely routine appointment we have daily "on call Team".  This is made up of Doctors and Nurse Practitioners.  They will discuss things with you,  usually initially on the phone, and make sure that the problem is dealt with either by telephone management, an appointment to be seen soon, or a home visit.  Please phoen 01913887771 to access this service. Please do not attend the surgery without phoning first.

Very Urgent and Emergency Cases

If you have a very urgent servere or emergency problem, then please consider if you should be calling 999 or attending A&E.  However, if it's something you think a GP could safely deal with then please call us instead on our emergency number 01913883336.

Thank you for helping us run a smoth and efficent service.
