The Mossley Hill CMHT serves the population of primarily older people across Mersey Care Liverpool Clinical Business Unit (CBU). The Clinical Business Unit (CBU) is a Specialist Health Service for people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and severe, enduring mental health issues – the most vulnerable in our society. The organisation is committed to helping service users and carers to rebuild their lives following accidents, illness and disability.
All the CMHTs in Liverpool aim to promote recovery, prevent relapse, and encourage social inclusion. The CMHTs consist of a multi disciplinary team (MDT), of Doctors, Nurses, Support Time and Recovery (STR) Workers, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Family Support Workers and Psychologists, who have a range of skills to cover the needs of service users. The teams aim to develop positive relationships with service users and others, founded on the basis of hope and optimism.
The teams will carry out comprehensive assessments, provide a care plan which identifies needs and how those needs will be met, review the plan on a regular basis, working in partnership with service users and their carers.
People are seen in outpatient clinics and in their own homes, where they are assessed, and then support is provided through a range of activities, for example, in work, education and socially, which will help promote recovery. Help will also be given in managing medication. The CMHT will work in partnership with other services and agencies to ensure an effective service is given to those in need. The teams further seek to deliver the care with respect for the individual with regard to the differences within our society and the preservation of dignity.
