Overview

NHS Aylesbury Vale Clinical Commissioning Group is formed of GP practices across Princes Risborough, Thame, Aylesbury, Buckingham and North Buckinghamshire. It is a clinically-led membership organisation that serves a population of more than 200,000, and is responsible for deciding how around £259.8m (2016/17) of taxpayers money is spent on healthcare of Buckinghamshire people.

In July 2016, Aylesbury Vale CCG federated its staff with the team at Chiltern CCG, the other Clinical Commissioning Group in Buckinghamshire. This move means the CCGs are merged all but in name, to commission health services for the health population of Buckinghamshire as a whole. This has allowed us to provide more joined up services for our patients and to work more efficiently together.

In June 2017 it was announced that Buckinghamshire is to become one of the first Accountable Care Systems in the country. This represents a tremendous opportunity to continue our work with other healthcare partners to ensure that our population benefits from integrated services that can provide the best care possible for our patients.

The CCGs were formed in 2013, in response to the Government’s Health and Social Care Act 2012 and have been authorised by the National Commissioning Board to hold the statutory responsibility to commission services in north Buckinghamshire.
