Resective pathology MDT discussion

What this data shows:

The proportion of cases having a resective procedure where surgical pathology is discussed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting.

How the data is gathered:

Discussion of the pathological findings after surgery at a multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) is considered a standard of care and all cases should be discussed. This is a Peer Review standard. Discussion at MDT allows multi-professional opinion on whether additional treatment is required.

90.3 % of cases having a resective procedure have surgical pathology discussed at MDT status recorded.

For a small number of cases a surgeon code could not be allocated to a case and therefore the results total for a unit may differ from the contributions of individual surgeons’ cases.

Some surgeons have performed major surgery at more than one trust or have moved organisation during the audit period.
