Survival gives a clear and concise view on the performance of each consultant and hospital.

When the data is shown:

As an example, 98.5% survival rate can also be defined as 1.5% mortality. It is important to note that the individual consultant survival rate can include work undertaken across more than one hospital.

More information about the data source:

The data is collected from each of the hospitals and submitted to the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) for analysis. The data used to determine risk of patients is validated with the hospitals and surgeons who submit the data. All data has gone through rigorous validation and each hospital has provided written assurance that there is no reason not to publish.
