  1. Review titled Minor Injuries Unit - Excellent Service Again!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Colin Smith - Posted on 24 April 2024

I have had the need of urgent assistance on two occasions from the MIU at Maidstone Hospital, once last May 2023 and this April 2024. The service I have received has been excellent on both occasions. Quick, efficient and effective. Thank you.

  2. Review titled Too much noise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Janet - Posted on 20 April 2024

Fantastic hospital. Staff top class for care .but the hospital had no understanding or procedure of keeping noise levels down so that patients can recover by actually sleeping . I.personally do not think my review will have any effect because it is easy to disregard this comment. But I was a nurse many years ago and staff were taught to close doors between clinical areas nurses stations etc and bays . There is a total lack of respect for patients mental welfare over recovery . Doubt this will change and astounded nurses carry on on wards to this level of bad nursing. They are totally obviousness to this basic need. Laughing and talking out loud during a night shift should not happen. Please keep it down and shut doors

  3. Review titled Random Discharge from Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Joel Brown - Posted on 20 April 2024

I was on the waiting list to see the Urology department for over 6 months. As my appointment was coming up I had to rebook due to work conflicts so I sent the necessary text message about 4 days in advance. Then the next day with no warning I received a call from a Private Number which I could not answer as I was in work with a client. I was then left a voicemail from a doctor saying he had read my medical notes, he quoted a note that was written months before my referral which said my problem had cleared up, and that he will be discharging me from the service. I have waited very long to see a doctor for an issue causing me frequent pain. I called my GP practice and they said I will have to book to see a GP who will likely have to re-refer me, meaning I will likely have to wait another 6 months in pain, which I see as extremely unfair. I understand the NHS is very stretched being an employee/clinician myself, but this is simply bad practice in my opinion.

  4. Review titled Disappointed with surgeon

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Daniel kemp - Posted on 21 April 2024

I’ve had three preops and seen an anaesthetist three times one for ENT and two for upper GI . I can only have one operation at a time as I’ve been informed by the surgical appointments team. My ENT operation has now been referred back to the consultant as my preop has run out as it only lasts six months as did my first reop for my gallbladder operation. The surgery for my gallbladder operation has been cancelled twice by the surgeon. The last time I was in the surgery clinic and the surgeon said my polyps or okay. I have five polyp which are large and the operating was to prevent them turning cancers . If my consultant thought it was necessary it must be necessary. The surgeon has sent me back to my consultant who has very kindly sent me for an MRI .My consultants have been fantastic and all the other departments that have been involved in my treatment.I believe the operation is half hour long. My problem is all the precious time clinicians have spent with me and the cost of all the scans and preop blood tests and the neurological reports I have needed to get from the neurology department at kings because of my neurological conditions The surgeon has completely wasted so much NHS money and peoples time and delayed my second operation just because they didn’t feel like doing it that day.

  6. Review titled Quick Response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen - Posted on 26 April 2024

Just a huge thankyou to the triage nurse in A/E who responded quickly and realised my husband was acutely unwell and got him transferred into minors instead of waiting for a GP appointment. From then on we couldn’t fault the care. Thankyou to everyone in Minors for his care.

  7. Review titled Horrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 March 2024

Emergency department is absolutely horrible. 12.02.2024 my husband had a strong kidney pain and no painkillers didn't help him. We were waiting 7 hours in the queue and I asked nurse for a bed for him, he couldn’t sit on the chair, she told me in a rude tone that she could not do anything, while there were empty beds in the corridor. The staff are rude, specially Indian nurses, no one is willing to help. It's just awful. Lots of staff, but they don't really do anything to help you. Medical service is terrible! Why do we pay such taxes for?

  9. Review titled Minor injury care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 March 2024

I visited the minor injuries unit 24 hours after a fall. This was due to continuing pain and swelling in my wrist, knee and ribs and concern in relation to osteoporosis. The triage was efficient and the wait for a consultation was not too long. I was treated kindly and everything was explained to me. Fortunately I had no broken bones and was reassured. Everything 10 out of 10. Thank you.
