  2. Review titled Two hours and still waiting

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2023

Arrived for appointment to find others already waiting over an hour. Notice on wall said delay 40-60 minutes. We have now been waiting over two hours for an appointment. No updates, glacial speed of service, staff walk past and don’t engage or offer updates. I’m here as a carer and son has now had to cancel days work. Three other patients seen in the last two hours. Something is very wrong if this is considered appropriate customer service. We would have left an hour ago, but decided to wait as the 10am appointment was finally seen at 11.40am. I wish we had gone home and re-booked.

  4. Review titled Seamless

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended CGH for meniscal repair today(knee arthroscopy). Staff at Painswick(Orthapaedic Assessment Suite) were wonderful from the start. Every professional I came into contact with was compassionate & kind. Communication was brilliant & I was left with no un-answered questions. The team in the Anaesthesia team were warm & kept my nerves to a minimum with their humour, which was very much appreciated, being my first time under general anaesthetic. The care on Snowshill was 10/10, really. Naturally, I felt a bit vulnerable after surgery. However, the commitment shown to helping me feel as comfortable as possible, was crystal clear. I appreciate all of those who I came into contact with today. Thank you.

  5. Review titled A&E care - at Cheltenham hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The staff are the kindest, sensible and caring people I have ever been fortunate enough to encounter. They know what they are doing, work as a team without any fuss or drama, appropriate humour. They make me wish I was in the nhs and had these qualities.

  6. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elizabeth Wadley - Posted on 13 March 2023

From the time of arrival to the point of discharge, the care I received from every member of the team was excellent. Everyone introduced themselves and informed me of their role in my care. My pressure areas were checked in theatre !! Every area was clean. I was offered drinks and analgesia at regular intervals post operatively and despite needing frequent support overnight, was attended to immediately, every time. I received a full explanation of my treatment from my anaesthetist and surgeon and was issued with written and verbal instructions regarding my treatment and postoperative care including assurance of referral for community physiotherapy. I received a letter for my follow up consultation 2 days after discharge. As a health professional I am concerned by the criticism that is directed towards NHS colleagues and therefore it was wonderful to receive such high standards of care and professionalism from all members of this team during my admission. Thank you !!

  7. Review titled Maternity care

by Magnoliasonthemoon - Posted on 27 February 2023

Today I visited cheltenham maternity clinic. While I'm usually satisfied with the care here. Today seemed very unfriendly and was upsetting and made me worry alot about my baby. I arrived for my scan. I have been advised to have extras as I lost a baby previously and in my scan a few weeks ago I was told my placenta was low lying. I arrived at the front desk with a mask after waiting while the staff member behind the desk was extremely grumpy with the people infront as they hadn't brought a mask. It was my turn and I saw that the staff member who was shouting was themself not wearing a mask. Which I found to be... odd. They spoke to me in a manner that was cold and impersonal and grabbed my notes. I have PTSD. This manner was not friendly and set me worrying. Then I was handed a urine sample bottle and told I had to provide one - I asked if i needed to give it back to her or the nurse and the reply was sarcastic. I explained I was waiting for a scan. They said I needed to do one anyway. When I went into the scan room the sonographer was also unfriendly and cold too. Started scanning me and then got angry my bladder wasn't full. I told her the person at the front desk had requested I provide a sample hence my bladder was no longer full. They started to get a bit irate and said that they couldn't assess the placenta and I shouldn't have bothered to come for the scan. I was looking forward to the scan and to seeing my baby. The sonographer refused to show me the babies face and started telling me about a couple before who had tried to film their baby on the monitor and so they no longer wanted to help people with it. They then gave me a horrible photo, which I suspect was on purpose, that didn't even show my baby so I left feeling quite upset. Warmth and personability is really important in health care. I now don't know if i need to keep worrying about my placenta or not. The NHS doesn't give an option to provide this feedback on their appointment without going through a formal complaints process. So I'm using this app.

Firstly, apologies for the delay in responding to you. Your feedback is important to us and I was saddened to read about your experience on what should have been a happy occasion. I will send a copy of your concerns to the departmental manager to share with her staff so that they are aware of the negative impact that they had on you that day and I am sure that they will also be saddened. Importantly, though, is that they can learn from this experience. I hope all is well with you now

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Admitted with pneumonia and treated quickly, efficiently and with great sympathy from all members of staff. Appreciate we still have an A & E service in Cheltenham, as husband was able to visit easily. Sincere thanks to all staff operating under difficult circumstances.

  9. Review titled Simply excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by HNJ - Posted on 27 February 2023

Cheltenham A&E is an example of what the NHS can be like if not over-stretched. As always, we got the wonderful care that we've always received from NHS professionals... the difference here was that the staff (from reception, through triage, to doctor's consultation and radiology) were not angst-ridden and exhausted. As a result, they were able to be quietly efficient, patient, good humoured, endlessly caring and professional. So grateful for the NHS at large and so appreciate Cheltenham A&E in particular for their wonderful help.

  10. Review titled Praise for Cheltenham A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by MR JOHN QUALTROUGH - Posted on 17 January 2023

I can't praise the staff highly enough. I was there afternoon/evening of 16th January. They were all very professional, attentive, diligent, caring, helpful and good humoured with everyone (even though clearly under a lot of pressure). It's a pity I had to be there so long, but I know that's a consequence of overload.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologise for the long wait in our A&E departments at the moment but it was pleasing to read that that the professionalism of all the staff did not go unnoticed. I will forward your comments to them and I hope you are now on the road to recovery.
