  1. Review titled Great surgical team

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Trish - Posted on 19 February 2023

Wanted to leave a shout out to every member of the fantastic Ophthalmology surgical and nursing team who all looked after me so well yesterday when I had my eye surgery. I had been very anxious especially after some appointments and conversations with other staff in the lead up had led me to feel patronised and my concerns dismissed rather than addressed, but everyone yesterday was amazing and had a truly patient-centred approach and an obvious dedication to getting things right. Yesterday I met teams of people who seem to love and take pride in their work. No praise is too high and no Thank You is enough. With their immense patience and empathy, they got me through things I've found really difficult/impossible before. Wish I could personally fund every single one of them I met yesterday a pay rise, from nurse to anaesthetist to surgeon. Also... my sight is brilliant. I can't leave identifying details but truly hope you see this and recognise yourselves.

  5. Review titled Friendly and efficient service

    by earmarktt48 - Posted on 11 April 2023

Yesterday I had an appointment for an MRI scan at Charing Cross. It was brought forward by about an hour an even though I arrived early, I was seen straight away. The staff were friendly and efficient and I was in and out within about 45 minutes. Earlier in the year I had 3 PET scans rescheduled because the scanner wasn’t working which set the scheduled scan back more than 2 months. The staff were apologetic and when I did have my appointment, it was handled efficiently. However, as my results were not good, I’m concerned that the delay may have hindered the ultimate outcome.

  6. Review titled Great A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Once again I got amazing help from the team at Chelsea & Westminster. I went in with a swollen ankle after a fall: I was looked after promptly, professionally and compassionately. The ankle is broken and a plan was immediately put in place to reduce the pain and make sure that it heals correctly. I’m very grateful.

  7. Review titled Excellent patient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Debbie - Posted on 18 January 2023

We had reason to attend accident and emergency with our elderly mother, who had taken a fall and had a possible broken wrist and bad cut on her arm. From the moment we arrived the care she received was excellent. Ranging from the receptionist on arrival, through triage and onto A&E E wing were she was treated by nurses and a doctor. It was obvious around us the department was incredibly busy, but, at no point did we feel her care was being affected. All staff took time talking to her, with reassurance and guidance. We honestly cannot fault. Thank you

A big thank you to the opthalmology department; the anaesthetist, surgeons and nurses both. My treatment for cataract and an accompanying full corneal graft has been life-transforming. Very pleased with results so far. Thank you NHS...Simply legendary.

  9. Review titled a brilliant hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rene Weis - Posted on 12 December 2022

We were urgently referred by NHS 111 to A & E for a timed arrival, after 48h hours of hoping my wife's agonising condition would improve. It was a life-saver. From the moment we were seen - it was urgent - we felt safe. My wife was seen by the A & E doctors within the hour, then by radiology, then CT scan, and then by a specialist team who diagnosed her condition, a bowel volvulus. All the staff, porters, nurses, doctors and senior consultants were not only focussed and professional but also kind and caring. How do they do it, we were wondering, when they were constantly in and out dealing with patients. Within 3 hours of arrival my wife was pain-free and had been seen by specialists. We arrived at 9.15 am and by that evening she had been seen and treated repeatedly, including by the senior consultant. They kept her in for two nights for monitoring, given the nature of volvulus and the danger of recurrence. It is true that parts of the real estate of Charing X outside look the worse for wear (another conversation to be had), but inside this is an exceptional hospital. It has looked after us very well over the years. The sheer cost of running a major hospital like Charing X is hard to grasp. Thank goodness Charing X and its dedicated staff are there for all of us. The NHS and its incredible people are indeed the jewel in the crown. We should never take it for granted.

  10. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2022

I took my father to A&E has he fell down the stairs, after waiting over 4h and some tests I've been told that he needs further examination and to please wait. We have been for more than 10 hours here and nothing to say as yet, just disappointed to see hoe everyone is having fun but not even letting us know what's the next step for us. I can understand how busy they can be but all I want to know is the procedure and roughly how long is going to take, what's next, just anything... and after all this time we are still not in a proper room even though I've been told they going to move him to a room soon... Feels like they don't even care....
