  1. Review titled No answer

Rated 1 star out of 5

Was referred to the skeletal team by my GP. Got an appointment, only for it to be canceled. Tried ringing for an alternative appointment only to get an answer service telling my all staff are on a training course. Two week later after my referral had expired, they are still on training, really! Do they ever see their patients!

  2. Review titled Blood Tests

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have tried unsecessfully to book online a blood test, your website address cannot be found. I have rang the 0300 number and been redirected to 674672, no-one answered the call. After about 5 minutes the call disconnected. I know the walk-in facility is suspended, so how do I go about booking a blood test?

Good afternoon, MPFT do not manage the phlebotomy services and these are managed by the Acute Trusts. This would need directing to UHNM for a response. Thank you

  3. Review titled phlebotomy appt worse ever experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by david john kendrick - Posted on 12 February 2024

went today for my bloods to be taken, never had a problem before, booked online, phlebotomist missed the vein completely and then proceeded to go on a fishing trip, very uncomfortable, apologised then tried the other arm, immediately missed the vein again, by this time i was very concerned, pulled my arm away and more or less got told she couldn't remove it as i had moved! i was ushered into see a supervisor who again was pleasant but attitude was not reassuring, i am a registered nurse 42 years in the job, never experienced anything like this. very disappointing, i sat in the car park quite shocked, my GP's phlebotomist is doing this now as i really dont want to go back there.

  4. Review titled Worse service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Been waited for two months for physiotherapy appointment. I booked the appointment today at 2 pm and by 1 o clock i got the text message saying that i didn't attended. Atleast they could notified me about the appointment times. Tried to call bradwell hospital two hours, contracted uhnm royal but they said they can't do anything and only bradwell physio can help. But not answer the calls at all. What kind of service this very disappointed and i will make sure that this will escalated to pals. Shame on the physio service

  5. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rosemary Lloyd - Posted on 27 November 2023

I attended for a bone density scan after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Having never attended this hospital before, I was a little worried but I had no need to have been. I would like to thank the staff who were so friendly and helpful. My appointment time was 10.00 am and I was on my way home by 10.20. Fantastic service.

  6. Review titled "Wear a mask"...or dont

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Nervous from Newcastle - Posted on 03 November 2023

As a long covid sufferer and as infection rates rise due to the Pirola strain, then to arrive to give blood only to find and see no one wearing masks, including all the staff I saw even those who took my blood then I am truly horrified that such a risk can be even considered. I am now in perpetual fear that I may now have become reinfected which in turn could possibly cause problems understandably. As, if a hospital insists people follow precautions and this isn't enforced and the staff spend all day amongst the sick then surely this has meant I have had to gamble with my health needlessly? I honestly wonder if anyone who reads this from the hospital can say in faith that my concerns are unjustified and will eagerly await anyone who works there to argue that they are not. I know the staff work tirelessly to help the sick in society and nothing but respect for every single person who dedicates their lives to the wellbeing of others but this experience and its possible outcome means I welcome any response from your hospital, as I would like to know am I being overly cautious or is the rise in the latest outbreak just ignored?

Thank you for the comment you posted concerning mask use. The Trust take’s Infection Control Precautions very seriously and are constantly reviewing data relating to national and local infection rates. We are aware that there are new strains constantly emerging and circulating in our communities and review our advice accordingly. Our policy currently is not to mandate universal mask wearing in all of our buildings as the local Covid-19 rates have not significantly increased at this time, we are advocating a risk assessment approach for staff to wear masks when treating patients with respiratory symptoms or in our emergency portals where patients are being admitted with respiratory infections, we do have masks available in all of our healthcare areas if staff or patients choose and want to wear masks. In addition more importantly we are encouraging our staff and patient population to attend for Covid-19 vaccinations to support the reduction in cases locally. To reassure you our advice is constantly reviewed and our control measures are altered sometimes on a weekly basis to support reduction in transmission. Should you wish to discuss this matter with our Pals and Experience team then please contact 0800 783 2865 or alternatively email palsandexperience@mpft.nhs.uk
