  1. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Macdonald - Posted on 01 June 2024

Attended an urgent meeting at Bodmin MIU today. Very help helpful nurses who pointed me in the right direction. Once in the right place (Sdek?) I was cared for rapidly & ultimately discharged with an option of returning over the weekend if I needed to. Thank you to both nurses and the doctor involved, all of whom were charming and caring.

  2. Review titled Amazing friendly compassionate staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharron Webber - Posted on 03 May 2024

From the minute I walked in the hospital from reception to triage to nurse to exray all staff were so friendly, happy, reassuring, clear information ,and even though I was in having a broken foot looked at we had many laughs, and I left with a boot which was all explained clearly on what happens next Would recommend over any other hospital.

  3. Review titled Extremely well looked after

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pauline Avery - Posted on 28 May 2024

Bodmin MIU. From the Receptionist to the Medical & X-ray staff the service could not have been bettered. Being elderly & following a bad fall I was treated in the most caring & professional way & felt completely at ease throughout. Thank you to all concerned.

  4. Review titled Brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Wendy Gildersleve - Posted on 09 May 2024

I had horrendous tooth pain that was making me shaky and hot , and pain going up to my head . I was seen by a triage nurse , she went over and above to help me . She was sympathetic and caring , I had a tear because I was in so much pain . My dentist earlier in the day said they couldnt see me as no emergency appointments available . I knew I had an infection and just wanted some antibiotics, she tried every Avenue she could to help me . Although not resolved , the care and sympathy I was show. Was second to none . Please relay my thanks to her . I hope she recognises that this was her , and thank you !

  5. Review titled An excellent Phelbotomist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by H Smith - Posted on 13 March 2024

I have to have regular blood tests for a chronic condition. It can take as many as three visits to my GP surgery to get one complete set of results, and it can be immensely trying just to get through on the 'phone, to book a test (or the extra tests because they have failed to ask for the right ones originally). I often leave looking and feeling like a pincushion where they sweep the needle and 'try my hands'. Achieving correct bloods had started to dominate my life and made me miserable. Thankfully, I discovered that there is a bookable online, often with appointments for the same or next day, in Bodmin CDC. I have now had bloods taken by the same Phlebotomist there twice and it is such a different experience to my GP surgery that I feel compelled to write in praise. It is a shame that his name cannot be mentioned here but he is punctual, kind and staggeringly efficient. He greets me warmly, hits a vein straightaway, is all ready to collect the correct bloods and ...that's it - I can forget about it. It probably sounds like a small thing but an excellent clinician when you have been subjected to such poor phlebotomy for so long, is a massive relief and I hope that his Superiors value him as much as I do!

  6. Review titled Phenomenal care, and incredibly clean. Very efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dominic Wilkes - Posted on 18 March 2024

I fell and injured my hand. I turned up, was seen instantly, by lovely staff. The Minor Injuries nurse who saw me, and the radiographer were just lovely people, carrying out their jobs with efficiency, dignity, friendliness and care. The whole place was spotless too! After care was also brilliant with a call on the Monday after visiting on the Saturday, with a follow-up conversation. NHS at its best. I cannot fault Bodmin. Thank you so much!

  7. Review titled Extremely good treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 February 2024

I had fall on 20 Feb which left me with head wound. The treatment I received at MIU was superb, very thorough, caring and I was able to have a CT scan at Bodmin rather than going to Treliske. Am very grateful.

  8. Review titled MIU staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 January 2024

I had to take my husband to the MIU on the afternoon of 29.1.24 following a fall. Whilst waiting to be seen by Triage he felt unwell and was quickly taken straight in to the treatment area. The nursing staff that looked after him were amazing, swiftly giving him the care that he needed. Apologies if we caused a backlog but he has recovered well. Thank you so much to all of you.

  9. Review titled Amazing place

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rachel Hughes - Posted on 29 January 2024

I attended the Minor Injury Unit on Saturday late afternoon for what I was hoping was just a sprained wrist obtained snowboarding. Every member of staff I encountered was professional, friendly and knowledgeable within their role. Throughout my visit I was treated with dignity and respect. I was impressed with how efficient both the unit and the professionals were, with very short waiting times. Unfortunately I had fractured my radius and potentially scaphoid, which was a shock, but the nurse and nurse practitioner, were so calm and reassuring, I knew I was in the best hands possible. I was giving great care instructions and follow on advice and information. Thank you everyone so much for your amazing care.

  10. Review titled Fracture clinic chaos

by PumpkinPie - Posted on 12 January 2024

The process of sending patients from the fracture clinic, to X Ray, to casting needs to be reviewed. it's absolutely chaotic. Sadly my son was in accident and broke a bone. We live in Truro and had to go all the way up to Bodmin Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) as it was the only MIU open late with an x ray machine (ridiculous distance to travel!) Anyway, first problem was the Consultant arriving 25 mins after our actual appointment was booked for. We saw him casually cycle in. Secondly, thirdly and fourthly- we were sent to the wrong x ray machine twice, had to walk all the way back to fracture clinic twice and then back to the correct x ray machine twice (the one downstairs) No communication, no apologies, no care taken to arrive at their jobs on time. Just absolute chaos. My final issue was the X Ray department - the paediatric waiting room was full and overflowing with elderly patients on trolley beds waiting for their X Rays. Several were being intermittently checked that they were still breathing while we waited. This cannot be normal. Surely if an elderly person falls who is dangerously frail - there needs to be a separate process for these extremely vulnerable people. (E.g. one X Ray room was empty!) The nurses in Fracture Clinic were very good and clearly frustrated too
