  1. Review titled Completely unsympathetic

Rated 1 star out of 5

The impression given by the staff at the University Health Centre is that they do not remotely care about people's health or well-being. The appointment policy is ludicrous. I am trying to be better and they do not care. "Computer says no" would be an apt motto for this organisation. It's a consistently depressing state of affairs. Better staff training as well as a complete revision of how appointments are administrated needs to be a top priority. I am still waiting for test results for an appointment I had 10 months ago. I got this appointment after grovelling to the person on reception. That should not be necessary and does not work with other staff where apathy is painfully apparent. I have not heard anything since and am still waiting for my results. Are the doctors good there? Who knows.

Hi Laurence I am sorry you are dissatisfied with the service. I can assure you that all our reception team are working very hard during a difficult time in the NHS. They are trained to care navigate and are supported by a duty doctor to ensure appointments are available to those who need them in an appropriate timeframe. As we do not have your full details I am not able to look into your care specifically. We are always happy to improve our service based on patient feedback. Please contact the surgery directly if you would like to discuss this further. Nicola Kelly - Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Ive been visiting the practice for around 20 years and my recent experience was in line with every time I have visited the practice. I was treat with a genuine concern and seriousness. I’ve always been impressed with the doctor’s persistency, if I’ve gone in with something I’ve been mildly concerned about they have done everything to put my mind at ease. I quite often talk up the practice when the conversation of the state of the nhs is brought up. I’ve never had the feeling of being passed off or that my concerns weren’t valid.

  3. Review titled Completely Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

Very disappointing practice. Receptionist gave a telephonic appointment with the doctor and told me to expect the call between 1400hrs to 1800hrs. However, the doctor called early at 11:10 am. The doctor called again at 14:09. In both the cases phone rang only once and got disconnected by the time I even noticed the call. Mind you I have been clinging to the phone all day long in the expectation of a call. When I called back the health centre at 14:10 to connect me to the doctor ,the receptionist was very rude and asked me call back again next morning. I have been having blocked nose, runny nose, and a severe cough which is not letting me sleep since past 6 days. This futile exercise of calling again tomorrow is only making my symptoms worse. Worst experience so far. It would have been possible for receptionist to pass on the phone to the doctor as it had only been few minutes since the call was missed at 14:09. Very inhumane treatment by the receptionist. I guess receptionist might only be acting on already set policies by the health centre.

  4. Review titled Disappointing Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

To get an appointment, you need to ring at 8:15, but when doing so I have had to ring around 20 times each time before someone picks up. I understand this practice may be overrun, but I still feel that my needs have been neglected. When phoning up a few weeks ago for an appointment with my doctor, I was only allowed to speak to a clinician who said they would refer me to the mental health team, yet I never heard anything. It took an a&e trip to get any form of service, and even after that and after explaining that counselling would be beneficial, I was referred to the wrong place (a crisis line) when i was told it would be counselling. When attempting to get my medication in the past, I was not allowed to go through the NHS app when ordering my prescription, yet when ringing I was interrupted many times by the reception team as they told me to order my prescription online even though I could not do so because I have to speak to a doctor first every time. It has led to me being without my medication for over a week multiple times, causing awful side effects. When I attempted to see a doctor due to having tonsillitis, I was told that it would actually be easier for me to phone 111 and go to a&e just for some antibiotics, rather than get an appointment with a practitioner. I changed to this GP when moving to Huddersfield for university in September and it has been disappointing from the start. I now feel the need to change to another service much further away so that my needs can hopefully be met.
