  1. Review titled Absolute reduction in service and patient care.

Since this Anima online system has been encouraged, you cannot speak to a doctor cannot telephone the practice (calls are ringing out) and once you register on Anima for either a call back or face to face appointment there is no acknowledgement of that request and no idea of what happens next. I am very concerned that anyone with a potential serious illness or condition will not be picked up in a goodly manner. Shocking way to treat people.

  2. Review titled Excellent surgery now dreadful

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery now use Anima system which is useless. The receptionist cannot give appointments after 3.30 Mon to Thursday and only till 1.30pm Friday so it's tantamount to only working 4 days a week. It was excellent before this system but now the receptionists have their hands tied and cannot help as they did before. Worse system than Post Office Horizon. I imagine that the doctors are still excellent if only you could actually get to see one. Terrible decision to install this system.

  3. Review titled Amazing surgery and medical staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Renee Estelle Powell - Posted on 19 January 2024

I joined this surgery only recently and today had my new-patient consult. The nurse who conducted this couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The whole practice is helpful and efficient. I have the feeling if I was ill, when I was ill, I would be helped and seen to quickly. They have networks extending to another Shoebury practice, also Norton Place and Shaftesbury Avenue. I think I have made the right decision to join this efficient GP's. Renee Powell

As a type 2 diabetic I cannot commend Thorpe Bay Surgery enough. The 6 monthly reviews, service, treatment, information, explanations and advice I get about my test results is outstanding.

  5. Review titled Awful practice and awful receptionists

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 May 2023

To start, a couple months ago I put in my forms to be registered here… I call to make an appointment with the doctor to be to told that I’m not registered with them but yet my husband and children are and our forms all went in together.. I asked what happened to my forms and was told they can’t answer that but also couldn’t answer how the rest of my family was registered but not myself. The receptionist was extremely rude, and even threatened to hang up on me and proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have a duty of care to help me. Absolutely horrible.

  6. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 1 star out of 5

by A disappointed family - Posted on 30 March 2023

Unsupportive Extremely slow Defensive and often abrupt receptionists Very unreliable when it comes to returning calls Advertise they do home visits for terminally ill and housebound patients - that is not true No proactive support for patient with terminal diagnosis Medical Certificate of Cause of Death had to be chased and chased and in the end, when no calls were returned we had to physically stand in their waiting room to almost force them to complete it. When speaking to receptionist during the above visit the receptionists personal mobile phone rang and she looked at it mid conversation with the deceased family - the height of bad manners The GP spoke to me just 2 hours before my mum passed to discuss my disappointment at their overall support of my mum over her last few months of life and even when I then had to call them to notify them of her passing, he must have recalled our conversation only 2 hours previous, he still didn’t bother to call. 2 days after my mums passing my dad had an appointment with their nurse and they hadn’t even bothered to update his notes that his wife had died and the nurse asked ‘how’s your wife’ ? How insensitive ! Overall our whole family is extremely disappointed with the majority of the Tyrone Road team.

  7. Review titled Awful Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

The most awful receptionists I have ever encountered. Given they are front of house for the Surgery, they are clueless and have the most horrific manners, not to mention the rudeness and "no can do" attitude. I have been at the surgery for few years and it has progressively got worse, i am seriously considering moving practice and would not recommend this surgery to anyone. Such a shame that a few receptionist can give such a terrible impression for the doctors they represent!

  8. Review titled Amazing work, nice to be able to see doctors face to face.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Super staff. The prompt and kind care I received helped me process my new diagnosis. They help was quick and I got to see a doctor quickly. Couldn't thank them enough. We the NHS services being so stretched by the government I didnt think I would get such a good and quick service. Credit to the management and doctors. thank you.

  10. Review titled Unhelpful receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2023

Put in request for prescription to be told it would take 3 days so in total 5 days over weekend. Asked if it would be quicker to book appt with doctor and told no. Asked if there was any other way and told I should have requested it sooner to which I replied I did not know I was gong to be ill sooner ! This conversation all delivered in the manner that I was being a nuisance and she had better things to do. My husband had a similar experience with the same receptionist a few weeks ago so not just me. I know the NHS is busy and I would not be troubling it if I did not need to but there is simply no excuse for rudeness.
