    Today at 16.30hrs i rang Newcroft surgery as i had been monitoring my high blood pressure and was Alarmed at the reading. I wanted to expedite my appointment and the lovely receptionist did just that by asking if i could come into the surgery at 16.50! so within 20 mins i was being seen by a Dr. I have had several serious problems in the past and every time i have been seen within hours and often sent to hospital straight away. Ive always found both the reception and back office staff very polite and helpful and the medical and nursing staff very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. As most surgeries these days it can be difficult to get through on the phone but if ive called in and ive needed them theyve never let me down.

    Came in to make an appointment for BP check and was offered one there and then as there was a free spot. Also gave me the pneumonia vaccine to save me going back 2 days later. This freed up an appointment for someone else.

    My Mother was prescribed an increased dose in medication by a specialist. The prescription has either never been updated by The New Croft Surgery as requested or the Chemist has lost the details. The surgery is blaming the adjoining chemist. The chemist is blaming the GP. My Mother is finding it difficult to negotiate between the two and as a family we are finding it challenging to resolve. This is not the first time it has happened and outlines the difficulty a patient has, when ill, in finding their way around an NHS which is not putting the patient first. The outcome is that after nearly a month the increased dose is not being taken.

    Called and got through at 8am GP called back at time allocated asked to visit surgery . Within an hour was seen and prescribed antibiotics..picked them up and on road to recovery hopefully. Very smooth and great experience bearing in mind the NHS and winter ( or all year round !) pressures

    When immediate action was required to calm troubling symptoms I was offered an appointment in less than 1 hour. The GP was calm and reassuring insisting I had done the right thing and wasn't wasting their time.

    The doctors and admin staff are all very helpful. The appointment system is great having urgent appointments on the day and pre bookable appointments to be able to choose which GP you want to see is very good. The admin team either via phone or face to face are always very helpful and try hard to get you the right appointment for your needs. The GPs are excellent. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a GP surgery.

    It’s is impossible to get an appointment. For a routine appointment you have to wait at least 4 weeks in most cases which is absolutely unacceptable. I know for a fact other GP surgeries in the area are offering routine appointments either a week or two weeks away. My whole family used to be at the Croft but we are slowly changing GP as the surgery as gone seriously down hill over the past few years.

    Thank you for your review of our practice, I am very sorry to read that you are unhappy with our service. We are working to improve waiting times for patients as the demand for appointments has significantly increased over the last couple of years. We have introduced online consultations, which you can access via the practice website and allow you to send a message to the practice without having to contact us over the phone. For urgent problems we have a triage service and this allows patients to speak to a GP on the day for medically urgent matters. Unfortunately a lot of patients do not let us know when they are not going to be able to attend booked appointments, and these wasted appointments are adding to the delays. Please be assured that our clinical and administrative teams work extremely hard to improve access and provide excellent care to our patients and I am very sorry that this has not been your experience.     I went with my daughter who had three problems: a lump in her neck, a nasty rash and some strange big and painful ulcers in her mouth. After waiting for 20 minutes in spite nobody was being seen to we were called. The doctor checked the lump (he had to google it, by the way), checked the rash and when we were going to tell her about the ulcers, she told us we needed to leave and if we had another healthy issue we had to get another appointment. One week later, we are still trying to get one and she is still in pain. Where the humanity has gone?

    Dear Patient, I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service you received at your recent visit to the practice. You mention that whilst you waited for the appointment no one else was being seen. Please be aware that whilst there may not always be patients in the waiting room, our clinics now support a much higher proportion of telephone and e-consultation appointments, meaning that although there may not be as many patients physically in the waiting room, our doctors are in contact with more patients each day than they were prior to the covid-19 pandemic. As you have left no further information I am unable to contact you or look into your concerns. If you would like to make a formal complaint please contact me at the practice and I can then look into your concerns. You mention in your comment that you are trying to get an appointment at present. Please be aware that we offer an urgent on the day triage service, which patients can book into for a telephone triage appointment with a GP. You can also complete an E-consultation via the practice website, which will be seen and assessed by a clinician within two working days of receipt. The clinician will then assess whether you need to be seen for an appointment. You can find details of this service on the practice website and Facebook account.

    Asked for wound dressing, which could have been done by a nurse,, Told me nurse was busy , come back next week . Wound is infected and very painful. My visit was wasted, and costly in taxi fares.

    Dear Mr Hamilton. Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback of our service. Dressings require longer appointment times and cannot be undertaken by all members of our nursing team. Due to the length of the required appointment, dressings needed to treat a wound and the need for an appropriately qualified nurse on site this is not something we are able to offer as a walk in service. I am sorry if this was not explained to you when you visited the practice. There is a wound clinic service offered by an external provider which is run from our practice building, but this is only available on certain days of the week. We would advise that if you require a wound dressing that you contact the practice over the phone or via online consultation so that you can be booked in with an appropriate member of staff at a time when we have a long enough appointment available.     i have regular visits to the nurse for a leg wound dressing and can only say that the service is second to none. Invariably on time, welcoming and professional. An excellent practice overall.
