GP followed up my concerns promptly, even phoning local specialised centre to get advise from Registrar. Phoned me within an hour and gave me advice in a caring, professional manner. Also arranged a follow up call in a couple of days. Very re assuring and gave me chance to voice any concerns.

Following a series of problems at my previous GP surgery, I decided it was time to change my GP. I had no great expectations, having put up with the deficiencies of my previous practice for far too long. The level of service at Barcellos practice has been excellent: • Transfer from previous GP was quick and efficient – no problems with repeat prescriptions • Obtained a face-to face appointment within a week (allowing for the Christmas bank holidays) • First class consultation which was thorough, informed and caring. I only wish I had transferred sooner. Aside from the actual treatment, it creates peace of mind to know that the surgery provides an all-round quality service.

I have had to change my GP surgery after many years of being our family GP. I could never see a doctor, constant feeling that every aspect of the practice had gone down hill i was reluctant to try another practice incase this was the same everywhere. Best thing I ever did. This practice gets 10 out of 10. They have taken time to listen, advise , care and smile. When will the powers that be understand this is the best way to make the nhs run well.

I phoned the surgery and requested a phone consultation and 1 hour later the Doctor called me, he then spent sufficient time with me to understand my needs, As I needed to attend the hospital the Doctor arranged the same and called me back 30 minutes later with a timed appointment. Three days after the above I attended the hospital and after a small procedure was on my way home within 40 minutes. With so much going on within the health service I must say a big thank you to the Barcellos practice for the speed that I was dealt with by the receptionist, the Doctor and the follow up at the hospital following his diagnosis.

Despite ongoing problems with my knee and heel I haven't heard a word from the practice since I went for an x-ray on the 24 August. This is very poor, at least I would expect a phone call to follow up on my x-ray, but no, nothing. It is now the 09 October and I wait in vain. I thought this surgery was better than this.

I arrived at the surgery for a routine asthma appointment at 9.10am. Watching at least 6 people go in before me, I checked on my appointment and by now the time after 9.35am and I thought I had been forgotten. When I said I had to leave at reception a nurse came running out, I hadn't seen her collecting any patients from reception before hand so I'm not sure of the reason for delay. There was no apology for her being late so I left without having the asthma check. Not great.

I had a telephone appointment for the 23rd of May, this was then duplicated by the practice with an in person appointment for the 16th May I pointed this out to the practice and they cancelled the one for the 16th. On the 23rd I waited at home with my home phone and mobile next to me and my computer turned on with the notes we were supposed to discuss. The appointment was for 08.30 and I was ready and waiting at 08.10 just in case the call was early. At 11.00 hrs I tried to call the surgery but gave up after a wait of some minutes. at 11.32 while driving my wife into Poole for a dental appointment my mobile went as I was driving my wife answered it after maybe 20 seconds and the caller had already rung off. We then received a test from the surgery sating sorry we have not been able to reach you this morning please rebook your appointment When we got home I rang the surgery and was eventually offered a telephone appointment for 13.00 hrs on the 26th May. I said fine so long as the call would be within a reasonable time of 13.00 hrs the answer I got was we don't do specific times that will be sometime between 13.00hrs and when we close which would be between 17.30 and 18.30 depending on which of the surgeries were doing the call. I was unable to accept this as it seemed like it would be another waste of time and politely explained this to the person on the phone. I am not questioning the skills or dedication of the medical team which I believe to be very good but just the way appointments are handled.
