  1. Review titled Renowned locally as appalling

It’s so sad that so so many people in Whitchurch view this practice as extremely poor. I wonder if it’s because Whitchurch has grown in size and it has too many patients on its books? The fact that the phone line is almost impossible to get through on, people go down and queue at 8am to get an appointment, there’s no ‘you are 3rd’ in line whilst you wait on the phone. So frustrating. Recent experience is that no one contacted my mother back with her results on numerous tests, it took me to review them in her NHS app and request a doctor to call to explain them all. Someone needs to relieve this practice of its pressures so it can perform to a better standard. I know people that avoid addressing health concerns as they know it’s so hard to get through / make an appointment. I have luckily moved out of Whitchurch and my new surgery is the absolute opposite of Whitchurch, I feel blessed I moved away, sadly.

  2. Review titled Really bad experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2023

I had a call this morning with one of the nurses about my condition. I suffer from diabetes Type 2. The person on the phone was very rude to me, and condescending, to the point that when the call ended I felt even worse that before the call. She judged me and treated me like a child, assuming that I wasn't looking after myself properly, therefore they can't help me either. After this I am changing practice. Horrible experience.

  3. Review titled Unheloful

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I called this morning to talk to someone regarding HRT. I was told that earliest was 8.8.23…3 weeks away. I said I needed to come the meds as I am experiencing problems. I was told it was this appointment or nothing. I was not offered a doctors appointment or triage call. The receptionist hasn’t the medical understanding to decide not to offer a person medical help. HRT is prescribed by a doctor and my last review in 2020 I had to request. I am appalled at the lack of interest by this practice.

  4. Review titled So pleased you have econsult, fantastic news

Rated 5 stars out of 5

So pleased you have econsult, fantastic news, so helpful. Please keep it!! It makes the process so much easier than hanging on the phone and you are able to advise of all the problems in on ego and the GP decide whether you need to come in or not rather than waiting for calls first or trying to call to book a routine appointment.

  5. Review titled Awful system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kim - Posted on 07 June 2023

After 30 calls I chose the call back option, when I was called back I was immediately cut off, another 45 calls, got through and again cut off? I've had a text from them before this instructing me to call them for a face to face dr appointment after some blood tests, can someone inform how to get through. It took me 2 weeks to get a phone consultation before my tests.

Dear Kim, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you are experiencing problems with our phone system. If you would like to contact the practice direct, either by popping into the surgery, phoning or sending a letter, we can investigate our call back function to see if there was a problem on the day or if we have a bug in the system which needs fixing. I do appreciate though that our phone lines are busy, in May alone our care navigators handled 5,898 calls. We are always looking at ways to improve communication with patients but I'm afraid there is no easy answer, but please be assured that it is something we are always looking in to. Kind regards, Julie Welch Managing Partner

  6. Review titled Urgent support needed for patients and staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 February 2023

This surgery has got increasingly worse. Staff are dismissive and rude. I appreciate it is a busy practice but I genuinely only phone when I need to. I phoned for test results which was only 1 part of my referral from GP. I got told all was normal. My symptoms have not changed and when I asked to speak to a Dr...instead of them suggesting to ask for Dr to check my notes for next steps etc...I'm just told to phone the next day. It seems results are looked at in isolation of the concern - reception staff then don't have the answers or any knowledge of what that person is going through. Every time I speak to this surgery my mental health suffers as I always feel worse than when I called. It takes days to speak to someone and most times there are no appointments unless you walk to the surgery in the morning. This is not possible for those of us with jobs and children. Someone needs to intervene and help this surgery. The area is having even more houses built and the surgery cannot cope now.

  7. Review titled Brilliant Service.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have had a number of encounters as a patient with the Armada Surgery recently & cannot comment highly enough regarding all the staff, service & support offered . As we are all aware the NHS are struggling & under pressure, but if you are prepared to adapt & perhaps assist yourself in visiting the reception "in person" for appointment availability when the surgery opens , perhaps this may avoid "special privilege expectations" by the few. I cannot imagine the Armada Team will miss these selected individuals in their fantasy quest elsewhere for preferential service. Theres always the Private sector. Good Luck.. Thanks Armada...

  8. Review titled No care given to vulnerable patient

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother who is over 60, has been suffering extremely with a number of issues that have effected her day to day life. Every times she phones (if they ever pick up) they have been unhelpful and refused to see her. She has become hopeless, every day she has phoned she has been advised to phone back the next day. I phoned this morning on her behalf, after 151 calls i finally get put on hold for 20 minutes to then have the phone hung up on me. I am still currently phoning but nothing has changed for the past hour

  9. Review titled Rubbish

Rated 1 star out of 5

They used to be ok before COVID but now you can't book appointments in advance for long term conditions they only do same day urgent or 48hours in advance which if you are at work by the time you can phone them all the appointments are gone.

Dear John, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry if you are finding it difficult to book an appointment. I'm afraid that nationally there is a shortage of GP's, which is certainly affecting recruitment in South Bristol. We have recruited other highly skilled Health Care Professional's such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, MSK Specialist and many others to help ensure we can offer a health care service to our patients, but I'm afraid with demand extremely high there is only so much we can do. We have developed a booking system which we hope is flexible enough to accommodate the majority of our patients but I'm afraid with 16,500 patients we're never going to be able to please everyone. 10. Review titled Appalling

I am type 2 diabetic and received a text last week from a doctor asking me to make an appointment as my blood sugar was too high in August! As with all others who are unfortunate enough to be at this surgery I cannot get an appointment. Why even bother to text me I am changing surgeries this one is a joke. I would say they are totally di-sorganised but that would be a compliment. Absolutely disgusted.
