I booked a phone appointment with a doctor for 17 April with a receptionist on 12 April. The doctor never called, so I called back the reception on the 18 only to find out that my appointment had not been booked. Very unprofessional service and poor organisation. Disergard for patients'time and unacceptable waiting time when calling the reception. Holloway medical centre has recently merged with St. Bartholomew's and I was hoping for an improvement. Things have gotten worse. I recently booked an appointment online and they gave me an appointment for over 2 weeks later. I am considering switching to another GP

Dear Patient I am sorry to read that your appointment was not booked as expected, without your details I am unable to investigate what has gone wrong on this occasion. The phones are busy but you will be offered the call back facility if there is a large number of calls already in the system. This will hold your place in the queue and call you back when you are at position number 1. As with other practices, there will be a short wait for a routine appointment but if a patient has an urgent medical concern then the duty team will assess, contact and if appropriate see the patient on the day. I wanted to try and request an appointment by using the website. I following the link to How to Book an Appointment which gave me several choices, the most appropriate seemed to be "Our appointment System". This took me to Patient Access, which doesn't work. Eventually I worked out that the right box was "Contact your GP Online". This doesn't seem to be good wording for "Make an appointment with your GP". It also takes you to another website. If you are trying to reduce the number of phone calls you are getting, the website should be much more intuitive. When trying to leave a review, I discovered that the Contact Us feature is not working, and coming up with an error message, and nor is the feature designed to leave an adverse comment.

Dear Ms Mills Thank you for your feedback. We have had some issues with the website since the merger with Hollow Way Medical Practice on the 1st April 2024 and we are actively working with input from the Patient Participation group to address and rectify the issues. The online bookable appointments and the contact us section were temporarily suspended these have both been now reinstated. I was able to see one Nurse .she was great and she listen and able to understand my symptoms and arranged more to be done to find solution .

I've just spent about 30-40 minutes trying to work out how to book an appointment. Having registered for two seemingly separate systems - AskFirst and Patient Access - neither has allowed me to make a booking, and Patient Access tells me I've "reached the maximum number of booked appointments". So, I'll just have to call during the practice opening hours until I get through to someone and risk being late for work - so much for the seven day NHS...

I am sorry to read that you are experiencing problems booking an appointment via online access. The systems won't allow a patient to book an appointment if they already have 2 appointments scheduled, to avoid patients booking multiple slots. The GP was attentive, encouraging and sympathetic about ongoing chronic issues. I was on time for my appointment but had to wait 1/2 hour.

Thank you for your 4 star review, our staff are very patient centred and do always strive to give the best care possible. They do aim to run to time but unfortunately for various reasons they can run late. I hope you were kept updated by the reception team as to how long you would be waiting. As usual I was able to see the doctor I wanted as quickly as possible, with only a short waiting time in the surgery on the day. From the friendly warm receptionist to the kind, respectful, thoughtful doctor, my experience was great.

Just wanted to shout out the lovely reception staff. I call the doctors a lot (it feels) and usually burst into tears on the phone when I hear how long I'll have to wait for an appointment. The reception staff are always so kind and calm and it means such a lot. Thank you <3

I telephoned to ask if they provided advice on a problem. Call from GP an hour later and a follow up appointment made. It’s not urgent but such a relief to know there’s a solution, I simply couldn’t ask for better treatment.

As usual I was seen on time and had a thorough yearly health review with one of the doctors. Exemplary treatment… respect, kindness, attentiveness, and careful research into whether my current COPD medication was right for me, with a follow up text message of advice. I feel very lucky to be a patient at this practice.

The best GP surgery I have been to!! I just wanted to write and say thank you for the brilliant service this practice provides. As a student in the area who has had negative experiences with GPs in the past, I am really grateful to have had a positive experience. I have a few health issues, and have always been able to get an appointment fairly quickly. The staff are lovely and friendly, and whenever I have had an appointment, I have felt well listened to, taking the time to ask to put how I feel into my own words. Thank you so much!!
