  1. Review titled Unhelpful

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 July 2022

I have now had two appointments cancelled due to doctor not now being available. I appreciate anyone can go sick and the need to rebook an appointment, however it would have been more helpful if I had a phone call from an receptionist so an appointment could be rebooked straightaway without the need to go back on line to rebook. No-one picks up the phone at Sidcup Medical Centre. Message always says they are experiencing high call volumes and asks you to go via E Consult

  2. Review titled Thanet Road Reception are grumpy and rude

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 02 August 2022

I am writing on behalf of my elderly father who experienced a very rude receptionist at Thanet Rd surgery on arriving for his appointment a few weeks ago. My dad was nothing but polite and the receptionist snapped at him for merely trying to ask a normal question. So much so, that another patient who overheard also commented on this person’s aggressive response. This is not the first time this has happened. They can come across as rather grumpy and dismissive which is not professional and certainly not the attitude they should be displaying to patients. They also seem to really dislike anyone dropping in to ask perfectly normal questions and can appear rude, disrespectful and unhelpful. There have also been times whereby they have given inconsistent information, depending on who you speak to and when. They are supposed to be health professionals or at least representative of the NHS but I’m sad to say, these people really let it down. I must state that this is not applicable to all Thanet Rd receptionists and certainly not the doctors or nurses. I have only high praise for them. But this surgery seriously needs to reassess the bad attitude a few of these receptionists are giving out. It can cause more upset during an already worrisome time visiting the doctor.

GP what GP? you cant get onto the econsult you cant get through on the phones when after multiple attempts you eventually speak to someone who tells you to do econsult which you advise is not working. Someone the calls you back offering appointments for 2 weeks away and that isnt even with the GP. You may well be seriously ill before they get around to answering the phone or giving you an appointment. I just wonder who they are actually seeing becaiuse every time I try to see someone they are "very busy

  4. Review titled Refused a doctor’s appointment for my 4 year old

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Egla - Posted on 21 July 2022

Did an e-consult for my daughter as she has chicken pox. Uploaded photos twice, had 4 phone calls from reception team asking questions that I’d already included in the e-consult. After 2 days of waiting to hear back, I was told that the doctor on duty had refused an appointment and suggested I read online, and head to the pharmacy or A&E (so I could pass on the virus to others!?). Spoke to the complaints manager, truly the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered; she was happy to dish out medical advice whilst not being trained medically, and confirmed no appointment would be given and eventually put the phone down. My daughter now had severe temperature still and has an infection on her skin. Even though I was clear that I had fully read a plethora of information online, yet I still had questions that I wanted to discuss with a doctor; had an appointment been provided my daughter’s suffering could have been avoided. I was told by a receptionist that even if an appointment was offered, the wait would be a few weeks as they are short staffed. Absolutely despicable and I will be making a formal complaint with the clinical commissioning group.

  5. Review titled completely useless

Rated 1 star out of 5

they don’t take appointments , they don’t take phone calls. if you want anything from them you have to fill out an online form- which isn’t suited for everyone. every month for the past 2 years i’ve had to fill out this online form and LIE and say i’m suicidal/depressed so that i can get my medication. if i don’t, and i fill out the form just mentioning the fact i need medication- i get a text telling me to refill it and say ‘yes’ to low mood/depression (NOT TRUE) since 2020 this doctors surgery only offers ONE thing - the online form NO appointments NO phone calls what do they even do? so so so useless i’ve never been so infuriated with nhs. reception are rude and unhelpful but we’ve all known that for years.
