  1. Review titled Wait Times

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Nick D - Posted on 26 January 2024

I live and work in Devon during the week and have to take time off to visit my GP. I had an appointment for today the 26/01/24 for 10:30. After an hour and a half wait in the Alfriston Surgery I had to leave to continue working from home. What makes it more frustrating I had to travel at my expense to a village 10 miles away when my local surgery is 2 minutes walk from home. Im now left with an undiagnosed until I can get another appointment. More time and expense for me. I find this wholly unacceptable and would not recommend this surgery to anyone.

  2. Review titled A Very Poor Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andy Anderson - Posted on 14 December 2023

We moved to this practice just over a year ago and found the services it provides outside if it’s required services under the GP Contract non existent. Delays in getting repeat prescriptions signed, errors in repeat prescriptions. It is impossible to get a GP appointment although when i attend the practice for Diabetic review there are very few patients in the waiting room and no sign of any interaction with GP’s. Where my wife and I have had clinically significant issues the practice has always directed us to a local Urgent Treatment Centre, Hospital AE services or on line consultation services. Today a telephone consultation was arranged with my GP to discuss an ECG that took place at the practice some weeks ago and to gain advice for my AF ongoing treatment. No phone call was received. Whilst I recognise service pressures on the NHS being a former provider of diagnostic services I find the service offered by this practice deplorable and non patient centred.

  3. Review titled Useless

I called to make appointment for mother who is 85,and extremely unwell due to a chest infection, And was told no appointments available for 3 weeks, I asked for a phone call appointment instead, I was told none available, explained that my mother was finding it hard to breath due to chest infection, reception women said, if I was that worried about her I should call 111 or go to lewes hospital ,and put the phone down, I went to lewes hospital and they informed me that they are always getting patients from this practice, and it is disgusting that they can not see a gp from there,Appalling service

  4. Review titled change of address whilst trying to help

Rated 1 star out of 5

Awfull inflexible reception staff to my temporary move from seaford for work to shoreham befor i move back to seaford. I was removed from surgery after 20 years, even after explaining it was temporary, that i was on long time, antidepresants, 30 years, which i must take and have prescribed without fail or error, and that i was just calling to see when i need to see a Dr as the Dr asked me on our telephone consultation that i need to book a face to face appointment with a Dr so he can diagnose what is wrong with my lunks after 4 months of feeling like i am drowning, i told them the Dr told me this but they would not book me a face to face as they had become intransigent, after them cutting me from there surgery, i was given a telephone consultation that i explained was no good as ive done that but the Dr needs to listen to my chest. obviously. I spoke to 3 different staff members, but they kept asking a supervisor for advice, and each time the response was more intransigent, I have never felt so let down and by an organization that is meant to look after people. This is how people with long term mental health conditions are treated. dumped, absolutly devestated

  5. Review titled Disappointing/ frustrating

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have lost count of the amount of phone calls l have made to this surgery. The hours l have sat in queues is beyond a joke. I appreciate that we all have to wait our turn. But this situation is ridiculous. Back in April l submitted a very brief letter requiring a doctors signature. I was told that a charge would be made. Which is totally acceptable. And also told it would take anything from 6 to 8 weeks. 8 weeks is now up and I'm now told up to 12 weeks. At one point was told the letter had to be sent away ??? On my last call l asked to be put through to the practice manager. The receptionist clearly found that hard to understand as she thought it would better to talk over me and not put me through. Whilst I'm calling and waiting in these telephone queues. I am infact stopping a potential patient getting through to make a necessary appointment. I accept a reasonable timescale but the way l have been treated is extremely poor and totally unnecessary. 8 weeks for a signature, now up to 12 weeks. And a receptionist who can't or won't put me through to the practice manager is beyond belief!!!

  6. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We are a family of four who have been patients at this practice for 17 years. Throughout that time we have been consistently impressed by the quality of service provided by admin staff, nurses and GPs. We particularly appreciate the ease with which we have been able to get medical attention when needed and the speed of response. Without exception the medical professionals we have dealt with have been polite, friendly and reassuring. Between us we have been to see them for cancer scares, blood tests, asthma check ups and many other routine medical problems. We also like the triage system which enables us to see a nurse who can refer up to a GP if needed, this is particularly good if we know what the problem is and just need a prescription. All in all we would highly recommend this GP practice and want them to know how much we appreciate their hard work under challenging circumstances, especially over the last three years.

  7. Review titled Great Care and Support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The Old School House Surgery Seaford Once again I would like to express how delighted I am to receive continued support since moving to Seaford from the Old School House Surgery. There reassuring communication, time and caring advice is very much appreciated. Quite frankly, I am amazed at the level and care provided by the surgery team. Having survived cancer and a heart condition I am particularly grateful. I can't imagine the amount of patients they manage on a daily basis. The Covid pandemic over the last couple of years have been completely awful for those like you working within the NHS and also those receiving treatment. However, if other patients receive any where near the level of service and care that I do, I am sure they to, are extremely grateful. Once again a big thank you to everyone at the Old School Surgery from reception, admin, to nursing staff and doctors. Once again, well done the NHS
