HPhoned Minehead medical centre as my wife was not feeling too good.The Receptionist told her to go to Minehead A and E.Did not let her have any discussion with a doctor.Minehead A and E examined her,then phoned Minehead medical centre and arranged a phone call from a doctor 7 days later.Abysmal treatment for someone in pain

I had a follow up appointment already booked, the existing medical problem had become much bigger and much more painful so I rang 8.30 in the morning to ask if I could bring my existing appointment forward by a few days as I was struggling, was told there were no appointments available.

Dear Patient, I am sorry you were unable to get an earlier appointment. We do release appointments daily, I would encourage you to please try again. Sadly four patients have not attended their GP appointments so far today which could have been made available had they been cancelled.

After hanging on the phone for ages, I sent an email noting concerns about my father’s medication, supposedly I would have a response in two/ three days absolutely nothing, I tried again, have a guess I am still waiting. At least have the decency to respond, leaves me with little confidence. Both my parents are in a care home in Minehead, whereas the medication is sent to Taunton? I live in London and feel powerless, one thing you like to be able to have faith in is the doctors.

Review titled Asthma Action Plan - absolute waste of time

Had an asthma attack on Thursday so followed my asthma action plan as suppled by Minehead Medical Centre. Did everything my end but couldn't get an appointment to see anyone within 24 hours which is their action. Receptionist is doing triage?

I have check ups every 3 - 6 months and also needed to see a medical practitioner for a different issue. Yes you do have to wait at least 30 mins to get through on the phone but once contact made I find the staff helpful, friendly and able to offer a appointment within an acceptable time.

I am not sure why practices like this receive any funding from the NHS as they make it practically impossible to get an appointment...and then will no doubt berate a patient for not seeing them earlier when an illness does happen. There is no ability to book for appointments coming up, just a daily scramble/lottery on places for the day, quite how they expect anyone to plan their day around this ludicrous state of affairs is beyond me. Save your time and energy, simple go elsewhere if possible.

Every time I’ve had a problem I put it off because I dread going through this gp’s process, and I can’t remember the last time I was actually helped with a problem I phoned in for, many of which I still have due to this. It always feels like I am gaslighted and told my problem isn’t as serious as I’m making out, my words get changed and have even been told I’d need to have it done privately, knowing other gps in the country still provide the services. I wouldn’t be calling into the gp unless something was having a lasting impact on my health and well-being.
