    I was able to get an emergency appointment with a nurse practitioner very easily. She was wonderful, sorted out my problem and gave me alot of reassurance.

    econsult is awful full of repetitive irrelevant questions and then they do not reply anyway, this multi-center practice goes more and more down hill the more practices they take on, better off going private

    Today I only wanted to discuss some recent blood test results with a doctor because I also have some symptoms that are worrying me. Blood tests should result in a GP contact with the patient to have a short discussion on abnormal or trending to abnormal results. Sunnyside reception could not make an appointment for me even for a telephone cosultation and referred me to the eConsult onlinr service. I spent 15 minutes trying this through Patient Access but after giving lots of information I was required to prove who I was - a photo or various Patient Access log in details. The advice was to get back to the surgery to obtain the log-in details because I was unable to send a photo. Contacted the surgery immediately again and was then told that I needed to access eConsult through Google Search on line. I did this and again drew a blank - after putting varrious details got stuck in a loop and gave up. My experience leads me to believe that the "service" has erected so many barriers to patient access that it no longer works.

    Complete econsult form on Monday. Got e Mail from one of the partners on Tuesday am saying e consult passed on to Dr of my choice who would contact me. Phone call following morning from my dr who dealt with my concerns and issued a prescription to local chemist. I have always found the staff who answer the phone whether it’s the reception or pharmacy very polite and helpful. Not over keen on e consult form(difficulty accessing it through my NHS ACCOUNT) and a lot of the questions seemed repetitive particularly as I had set out my problems in the first paragraph.

    How do you get an appointment these days it never used to be this hard? You fill in the awful econsult form which goes on forever with irrelevant questions you are then told the practice will contact you in the next 24 hrs -surprise that does not happen.

    Having failed to secure an appointment after 3 days of trying on the phone by calling from 7:55 to 8:30 am without be answered I joined the physical queue outside the surgery at 7:30am the next day to find that I was still 6th in the queue. When I finally got to the desk I was told that the GP I needed to see for a follow-up appointment was not working that day and that I could not pre-book any appointment with them, but was to do the same the next day and join the queue outside again! I was told that 'you can telephone you know?' .....but you can't. I was quite ill throughout all of this and to expect unwell people to come and queue outside every day in the hope of an appointment seems more fitting for an Eastern Bloc or 3rd world community ...but this is North Somerset. This combined with the reception staff who almost seem to take pride in how hard it is to get an appoinment and have no sense of empathy make me fearful of being unwell in a community in which I have lived for over 30 years. I know that I am not alone and hear similar tales regularly. Being frightened to try and use our own NHS is shameful.

    I tried to make an appointment to see a doctor at sunnyside, I phoned early and after spending 25 minutes on the phone waiting, I was told I couldn't have an appointment till October 1st, or I could have a call back but only if there was an appointment, after trying to explain that I needed to see a doctor in person, the person on the end of the phone said "I'm not arguing" and put the phone down on me. Completely disgraceful... This isn't the first time I've been stone walled when asking for a face to face appointment or had to deal with rude and arrogant people on the end of their phones. I got one of their leaflets on how to complain, unfortunately, what is written on the leaflet is very different to the service you receive! I would never recommend this practice to anyone and I will be transferring to a different medical practice. I'm sure they will give one of their pathetic replies fobbing off and deflecting and asking me to contact the practice manager.... complete waste of time!
