They are quite busy , but once you get an appointment and you get to see the doctor, everybody is quite friendly and they look after you and make sure everything is thoroughly checked up.

  2. Review titled Awful practice

I have only a handful of times when I can truly say that I have had a good experience at this surgery. The doctors and nurses are dismissive, patronising, and come across uninterested most of the time. I've been told to turn the assault that happened to me "into a positive", dismissed when struggling with mental health, and recently with physical problems, it's taken two and a half years to get a diagnosis when I was told nothing could be done other than have surgery, which wasn't the case. They are much more inclined to prescribe something rather than get to the cause of the problem. I've complained once before regarding the treatment of my child but just got an email apology and that was it. Telephone appointments are usually a minute or two long, and they make you feel as if you're inconveniencing them when you ask questions. On their website, they describe themselves as a "dedicated team" when they are anything but. The telephone system is awful too; you wait until you are number 1 in the queue, and then it will ring continuously for 15/20 minutes until you are through to someone. There are two reception staff that are really lovely and personable but there are others that say things such as "well I can't help you I'm afraid" and have unrelated conversations with others while you're on the phone. I really am fed up of having to second guess the people that are supposed to be helping you and coming away from an appointment feeling more confused than you were before. I know this review won't go anywhere and will be dismissed but this surgery really needs to change.

  3. Review titled A let down, when you most need them!

Rated 1 star out of 5

I find it very strange that Mayfield surgery is taking on new patients (advertised on their website). As an existing patient, I cannot get an appointment. And when you ask for an appointment, it's phone tomorrow at 8am. You phone at 8am as instructed, stay on hold for anywhere between 20 to 60 minutes. If you're lucky you will get through, if not your call gets terminated, and if you do get through all the appointments are gone. When you explain to staff that you need to see a doctor, you get told appointments are only available with nurse practitioners. I really do not understand how this is allowed to go on. Taking on new patients is just going to compound these problems, you already cannot offer current patients appointments.

  4. Review titled The worst practice in Northampton

Rated 1 star out of 5

This is the worst professional service I have ever experienced in my life, I have had to call over 300 times because the line will stay busy and not let you hold because the outdated telephony system until by chance your in the first 10 people to get through after calling from 8am getting through at 9:40am to be told there are no appointments and to do the same the next day. The rudeness of the receptionists is something I never though I would experience in the nhs, they make sarcastic comments on the phone, the lady said word for word “because of people like you taking our time we can’t answer other calls” as I was expressing my concern that I have not had my X-ray results that they have had back for over three weeks. You cannot book any future dated appointments, and if you are not happy that you can’t even book a call from a medical professional they lady advised “if it’s that bad call 111” absolutely shocking that they are still running this practice it needs shutting down.

  5. Review titled Horrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Priyanka Ronak Upadhyaya - Posted on 17 August 2022

This is a GP service with no regard for its patients. Never an appointment available with even a nurse. Never an appointment available even to speak with a medical professional over the phone. Very rude receptionists, making you feel as though they are doing a favour on you by answering the call. Only ever ask us to call back at 8 am only to be put on hold for ever and then when you finally get through they say its not 8 am anymore. Don't know what they intend to do? May be just waiting for the patients to get so poorly before being seeing at the surgery that they should land up into emergency care. Also, if you do manage to get through to a medical professional, most of the staff is locum with very poor quality of service or even understanding of your concerns.

Dear Mrs Upadhyaya, Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience with the practice and apologies that you felt you did not get the treatment, support and advice you required. As a practice we are constantly reviewing our appointment accessibility and work with other practices in the area, our Patient Participation Group and listen to patient feedback to adapt and improve our service. All of our telephone calls are triaged by a member of clinical team (GP), taking on board the patients clinical need and they will be offered a face to face or telephone call based on the information provided. Your experience will be fed back to the rest of the team so that we can address the issues you have raised. Jo Carr Practice Manager
