  1. Review titled Can't be bothered to write a note

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mandelai Wolfe - Posted on 03 February 2023

Took my 13 year old child to a Doctors appoitment at Mannamead Surgery this morning, left at 10:15am. When leaving I asked the woman at reception to please write my daughter a note for her school and she refused. Said her daughter went to the same school so my child didn't need a note. She told me to use the text message sent to my phone and give it to the school explaining that it might have come to my phone but its an appointment for my daughter. She's just sat there, refusing to write a note and I don't understand why she just couldn't take minute to help me? It was ridiculous and pretty much sums up the service you get at Mannamead Surgery.

  2. Review titled Still unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have continuously rang the practice all day today to no avail as constantly engaged wanting information of my dementia mother. No surprise. No wonder I left the practice.

Dear Caroline, I am sorry that you had difficulty getting through to the practice on 27th January. The engaged tone means that phone lines are saturated, but this normally only lasts for short periods. I have reviewed our call data which tells us 88% of calls were answered within 20 minutes. If you would like me to look into this in more detail for you, please send an email to: d-icb.mayflower.feedback@nhs.net Alternatively, you can complete the feedback form on our website under "Have your say". 3. Review titled Pointless GP Surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2022

My daughter is asthmatic and having experienced a very uncomfortable night with asthmatic cough/tight chest contacted the surgery at 8am to be told that she would receive a phone call from a "clinician". Contacted the surgery again a couple of hours later as no call. Rude receptionist said that daughter's information would be triaged and if it was felt that she needed medical attention (how could she not?) someone would call but no way of knowing if or when a call would come. Asthma is apparently not seen as a priority. Waited until early evening with no call so contacted 111 who advised to go straight to Derriford as likely needed to be prescribed a steroid which turned out to be the case after a six hour wait to be seen. It would have taken a GP all of five minutes to carry out an examination and prescribe the required steroid at the surgery instead of which my daughter spent all day waiting for a non-existent call from the Surgery and and then hours more waiting into the night to be seen at Derriford. What exactly is the point of this Surgery now? It seems that funding is being spent on employing an army of front line, less than pleasant receptionists whose main objective is to turn as many patients away as possible. If a patient with a medical condition that can compromise breathing cannot access medical support when needed, what hope for anyone else?

  4. Review titled Very sad shocking service decline

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 November 2022

I attended the surgery this morning and witnessed an elderly lady at the reception desk wanting to make an appointment, the receptionist informed her that she would have to ring in. The lady explained that she is deaf and unable to use the telephone... receptionist left the desk to speak to someone and returned to inform the lady that she must ring in to get an appointment so would need to get a neighbor/friend/family member to do it for her. A couple of people in the queue pointed out that you do not always want other people to know about your medical appointments which the receptionist agreed with, she also agreed that it was not right for the lady (who incidentally had no one to phone for her) not to be able to make an appointment but said again that she was unable to help. Absolutely shocking!!

  5. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Karen collins - Posted on 19 December 2022

I have just spent a week from hell as someone decided without any consultation or explanation to half one of my drugs and without warning. This meant I completely ran out and have had so many panic attacks it’s been an awful 7 days. I have been with the practise for more than 30 years and I would have recommended them to anyone, however now I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy

  6. Review titled Amazing response from practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 September 2022

We have recently adopted a child and needed to explain their complex needs to the surgery. An appointment was made and the GP that I spoke to was very thorough. Our child also needed to be seen urgently for an infection and was seen within 2 hours. This is an amazing response from the surgery. My husband has also been unwell recently with a recurrent problem which needs addressing quickly. We called the surgery at 8am and the medication was at the chemist by 1030. Again amazing service. We have been under mannamead surgery for many years and would not have recommended them when the previous provider was running the surgery. However, we feel that Livewell are doing a great job. The reception team at mannamead have been exceptional, very kind, understand and friendly.

  7. Review titled The worst GP practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 July 2022

Having moved to Plymouth I joined this surgery and in 4 years I’ve not yet even met my doctor. It is impossible to get an appointment. Having had heart problems I was brushed to the side and had to chase up appointments myself. Causing me to have extreme anxiety and mental stress. Whenever I needed any sort of appointment for health conditions I would be referred to online services which don’t work and cancel your appointments after making you wait hours. They never pick up the phone or even get back to you after doing an e consult. Hands down the worst GP surgery I’ve come across in my life.

  8. Review titled Worst care ever

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 July 2022

Fed up with being sign posted to the livi app and a physical appointment at a local doctors is needed. Livi app is great for short term things but for more ongoing issues that need further investigation it is needed to see a doctor. An econsult says they aim to get back to you within so many days then you get an email and it is weeks away before they will respond. I have not had a response to the econsult I did 2 months ago. Unacceptable standards and care. The excuse of covid is not good enougth as these issues were here way before the pandemic. What happened to the patients charter? People are suffering with conditions and possible dying because things haven't been picked up soon enougth. There must be a better way of managing this practice.

  9. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2022

Have been worrying about abdominal discomfort and tried to phone surgery this morning, by the time I was able to get through, all appointments gone. Went into the surgery to try to make an appointment to see a doctor. Was told by the receptionist "that's not the way we do things around here, we have no appointments available, you need to go home and try to ring again at 8am tomorrow" Might as well give the funding for this GP practice to the Cumberland Centre so that they can see more people because that's where patients end up going and you don't get turned away.
