I had attempted to get an appointment for 3 weeks without success, not considering my condition to be urgent. The staff fielding appointment enquiries were very understanding and helpful. On my last attempt I broke down and terminated the call. I received a call back some time later and was offered, and accepted, a ‘come at the end of morning surgery and wait’ appointment. I saw a doctor who was amazing and I realised that perhaps I had been urgent after all! One cortisone injection, referrals for x-ray and physiotherapy later and I was sorted. I was given time, nothing was rushed and I left feeling a very happy bunny! The only criticism is the difficulty in getting an appointment in the first place; ringing on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons week after week is very frustrating and to be 30th in the queue at 2.03pm is demoralising. No idea what the answer is, but an earlier offer of ‘wait and see’ would have helped me. Thank you for listening.

  3. Review titled Undervalued surgery

Pharmacy service is outstanding when dealing with patient consultations; had two requirements to speak to pharmacist in recent months & service was A*. Practice Nurse & GP were also professional, efficient with friendly manner. Medication reviews are handled with a partnership approach which is likely to be more effective than unannounced medication change experienced at previous GP some years ago. Transfer from another surgery was not efficient. Despite completion of all forms etc medication was not 'on record'.when ordered. Overall in these challenging times,.practice is doing a brilliant job. Thank you. If patient files cannot be transferred.from Wales to England, this should be resolved by NHS Wales.

  4. Review titled Avoid

I do not recommend this GP practice. I am not satisfied with changes to my treatment that were made without communication with me. I am not satisfied with the 4 weeks wait for a routine appointment. The system that has patients who are unwell and needing an urgent appointment in long telephone queues in the morning is undignified and unacceptable.

  5. Review titled First rate customer service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the surgery late on Friday afternoon without an appointment. A doctor agreed to see me at the end of, I suspect, a very long day. He was genuinely interested in my problems and, although he agreed with me that they were probably not serious, he persuaded me to get them checked out that evening at hospital just in case I was wrong. He phoned the hospital to tell them that I was on my way, printed off my medical notes to take with me and did a handwritten note to go with them. This made my experience at the hospital far easier than it would otherwise have been. He also advised me re a strategy for pain relief. I'm really grateful to the doctor in question who went that extra mile for a patient.
