  1. Review titled Great Practice, shame about lack of empathy front desk

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 January 2024

Rang today with a problem, I have covid so am unable to see the GP. Didn’t even require an appointment, looking for a script to be sent to my local pharmacy. Receptionist I spoke with yesterday was lovely and helpful. Today, the receptionist, had no compassion, attempted to diagnose me herself with a suggestion of perhaps I’ve had an allergic reaction to a cream I’ve been using. Perhaps it is a reaction, perhaps not, either way it’s very painful and I was crying on the phone. She told me to stop using the creams I’ve been using “just leave it alone” and to call back when I don’t have covid. That doesn’t really help me with the pain I’m in at the moment. This is by no means a hospital matter nor a 111, I have a photo of the area that is painful. I believe a quick photo to the GP would have easily helped in the meantime until I can come in for a swab. Instead I’m left in a lot of pain, applying cream I don’t know if I should be applying or not. This lady needs further training in customer service. I’m aware she is a long-standing member of staff, but the way she reduces you tears when you’re already feeling low is not acceptable. Have some empathy! It’s a shame as the rest of the practice are all very lovely and helpful.

  2. Review titled Empathetic and excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

When I telephoned with post orthopaedic surgery pain, I had unwisely run out of pain relief and was fairly desperate for help as I was sleep deprived. The reception staff dealt with my call promptly and with good humour, and arranged a same day phone appointment with my own GP. He listened to my symptom story and gave specific advice on medication plus reassurance and a prescription to further deal with the nausea. All this guidance was then sent in a text message in case my sleep deprived brain had forgotten it! Excellent care from everyone at the surgery.

  3. Review titled Kind and thoughtful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Over the last 5 months I have been having investigation for cancer, a recurrent infection and my partner has been treated for asthma exacerbations and joint pain. We have have many visits to the surgery, seen a variety of health care professional and administrative staff at the surgery. They have all been welcoming, helpful, accommodating, kind and responsive. We have felt confident in their decision making, treatment plans and safety netting. We have felt supported and cared for.

  4. Review titled Received excellent treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Visited the surgery today and received excellent treatment and advice from Nurse Jane. I phoned up after 9am and the receptionist got me an appointment 2 hours later which was great. After a dressing, antibiotics and some sound advice I already feel much better.

  5. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would like to post a positive review for Lawton House practice and the staff. My experience yesterday was great, from speaking to a lovely understanding receptionist in the morning, to speaking with the GP later the same day and collecting a prescription. I understand the great pressures that General Practice are under currently, and the service that I received was excellent. Thank you

  6. Review titled Poor first experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I visited after I called to enquire about becoming a new patient where I was told we could register as had proof of new address and should be living there in the nexr few weeks that actually we couldn't and very rudely spoken to, reluctantly given forms in anticipation of becoming new patients. Very dissapointing considering I explained the situation, I appreciate there is catchment areas but after moving my family 200 miles and having a 2 year old and a 10 month who hasn't been seen by anyone since 8 weeks due to "covid" and staff shortages I just wanted to be able to register somewhere and believe that we could be taken care of if we ever needed anything. I have not to use the services as I understand they are stretched but part of the child immunisation programme is done around 12 months which is when we will be patients and even after I mentioned this I was told to go elsewhere. I really thought each application could be considered expecially in circumstances where babies or vulnerable are involved. Not a great first impression and maybe the reception team should all be giving out the same information. The lady on the phone was very helpful however at the surgery I was left feeling very let down.

  7. Review titled The GP surgery had no appointments left

    by Inca18 - Posted on 18 July 2022

The GP surgery had no appointments left. I had rang since 8am and they had a message after 20 mins saying they had no appointments left. I needed painkillers after an operation. The GPs themselves are lovely but this is unsustainable and damaging patient care
