The worst experience with health care. If you can even call it health care, Fobbed off more like! I rang the surgery for an appointment, I gave a brief description of my symptoms & arranged a phone call appointment for the following day. The following day I received a call from a receptionist. I was told they were phoning on behalf of the doctor. I was going to be referred to a physio for treatment but there are no appointments available with them(physio’s). The conversation then ended. I received no diagnosis or any idea of what the problem with me was. No information was given as to how I could help my situation or what I should be doing whilst waiting for an appointment with a physio. How can a doctor refer me to physio without speaking or seeing me? I have never discussed my symptoms with a doctor. The day after my phone call I had to visit the emergency department. They were amazing. I was given a diagnoses & clear advice as to what to do. They could not have been more helpful. Why did I have to go to A & E instead of your surgery to get dealt with or speak to a trained Medical Practitioner. How does a receptionist get to ask personal medical information & then relay this to the doctor on behalf of me? It is beyond me that Kirkoswald Surgery was graded outstanding if they provide health care like I have experienced (or lack of) God forbid if someone had a potential life threating issue & received the level of care that I got.

We are very sorry that you have felt it necessary to bring this matter to our attention in such a way, as please be assured our patient care is our absolute priority and we do take all feedback very seriously. We pride ourselves on having highly trained reception colleagues, whose role is to take details of our patient’s health condition, prioritise the calls and arrange for the most appropriate Clinician to call the patient back, to discuss the matter further. This may be a GP, Nurse or other medical professional, who is an expert in a particular area, such as the Physiotherapist. However, if you would like to contact our Business Manager and discuss your particular case in more detail we would really like the opportunity to investigate it further and provide a more specific response. In the meantime, thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback, which is always appreciated.

I registered with the practice as it was recommended and I was within the catchment area. The website is simple and very easy to use as well as informative. The site is very patient friendly and accommodating. The service provided during registration with the receptionist was helpful, friendly and thorough in detail of myself, conditions, lifestyle , ethnic background and any dependents including caring responsibilities, which was the first practice of many I have encountered that acknowledges such unpaid carers and openly welcomes them. The clinical team are very approachable, very informative and very caring. Showing respect at all times. I am female and I felt comfortable in an all female lead surgery but would also recommend to anyone of differing age or gender.
