    A recent appointment for my teenage son gave me continued confidence that the GPs and nurses at Holt Medical Practice are totally committed to providing the absolute best care that they can possibly provide, using the full extent of broader NHS services available to them and my family. My family and I appreciate their willingness to leave no stone unturned. Thank you to everyone in practice for always going over and above.

    Usual wait times, at least 2 weeks for telephone appointment, 3 weeks if you want a face to face appointment. My last telephone appointment was not fulfilled by the practice.

    Good evening We are very sorry to read your review and that you feel the service we are providing falls below the standard you would reasonably accept of your GP Surgery. We really do try very hard to schedule our appointments and clinics in a way to provide the best availability that we can, with the most appropriate clinician. Obviously on occasions, we also get sick, and in those circumstances we do need to cancel lists - but this is always our last option.     I had an appointment this morning for a blood pressure monitor to be fitted for 12 hours, my appointment time 8.20, at 8.01 I get a call saying it had been cancelled for the second time. I had a taxi outside my gate at the time of the call as once the monitor is on they state you shouldn't drive. I also for the second time had to arrange time off work for the appointment and for the following day as they request the monitor to be returned by 8.20. For the second time I was told the nurse was off sick, I was sympathetic the first time as I was also given more notice, but this time unfortunately I had to pay the taxi and couldn't re arrange work at such short notice. The person calling said they could do Thursday, but for me to arrange work for the appointment, the transport and the return of the monitor the next day twice in one week is totally unreasonable plus the cost to me of these cancellations is unacceptable. The person who called suggested a call back from either the practice manager or the head of nursing I didn't quite catch which one, I accepted, but as yet I haven't had a call.

    On Monday 4th September I had my second appointment to be fitted for a blood pressure monitor, this was cancelled by the surgery. My conversation with the caller ended with me agreeing to speak with a member of staff about my concerns re the two cancelled appointments. It is now the 6th September and I still haven't heard from the surgery. I would like to point out that the caller clearly knew who I was as they asked for me personally so there would be no problem in identifying me and my cancelled appointments, as she had all the details in front of her. Leaving a review on a platform like this about my health warrants privacy, I would never leave my real name. However the receptionist I spoke with does have all my information and should have passed this on to the relevant person who was supposed to be calling me back. I am concerned that I gave enough information in my last review, ie date time and treatment and it was noted that I couldn't be identified. Please do not expect anyone to identify themselves when leaving a review about something that is private and confidential.

    Yesterday I called the Holt Medical practice mid morning. I was able to see a medical practitioner mid afternoon the same day. I was extremely impressed with my whole visit from reception through to the paramedic who saw me. She was very professional and thorough and by the end of my visit I came away feeling very reassured and although await test results feeling positive.

    Excellent from start to finish. The whole procedure from parking to leaving took no more than 5minutes. Well done Holt Practice superb service.

    Good evening Just a short response to thank you for taking the time to leave your positive feedback. We will share it with the whole Practice Team. We felt it was important to remain open (before and after the funeral) on the Bank Holiday for our patients that still wanted to keep their appointments; this seems to have been received positively by many and allowed us to avoid unnecessary cancellations and delays.     Disappointed with phone system which runs on and on before telling you that you are 12th in a queue. There has got to be a better way of doing this. Disappointed with extremely long wait for repeat prescriptions. Disappointed with how long it takes to get an appointment with a GP. Disappointed and confused as to why it takes weeks to even get a phone consultation. Staff should read the comments from patients on Healthwatch Norfolk about Holt Medical Practice. It’s no good just reading a few positive ones on here you need to read those too to get a clear picture of how patients really feel.

    Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for providing your feedback. We are disappointed you have found our service to be poor. I note that your comments states that you visited the Surgery in July, but your feedback was not provided until 29th August – hopefully in this period some of the issues you raised have improved. The phones and waiting times are an ongoing issue and an area we are actively working on to improve. We are investing time, technology and training into better signposting and call handling and are confident that shortly our patients will start to feel the benefits of this. There will always be times of day (first thing in the morning) or periods in the year (flu or covid booking season) when the phones will be busier, but we want this to be the minority. We are currently working on a 3 day turn around from ordering to collection of repeat prescriptions and have been for over a month now. We did experience a dip in service here, but everything is now back to where it should be, and we are working hard to maintain this. August is often busy month with increased levels of visiting patients and bank holidays, so apologies if you felt access was reduced. As it stands today – anyone with an acute problem will be called and then seen on the day by a GP if deemed clinically necessary and there are Paramedic and Nurse Practitioner appointments available for tomorrow. Routine appointments are running at 2 weeks, which is our usual availability. If patients wish to see a particular clinician, then naturally the wait might increase depending on their schedule and availability. I am hopeful that some of the above information might help allay some of your concerns, but if not, I am sure it would be helpful to speak directly to you so we can provide focused feedback and investigate your specific circumstances and try to learn from them.     We were on holiday in Holt and my husband's chest infection returned. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and suggested we spoke with our own practice in case they would extend my husband's previous prescription. They wouldn't, so we returned to the Holt Practice who registered him and within an hour he was seen by a doctor, prescribed different medication which the pharmacy dispensed immediately. I wish all Practices were this friendly, helpful and efficient. Thank you to everyone.

    Dear visiting patient Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experiences with us. We really appreciate it and it is a welcome boost to the Team. You may not be aware that we are currently struggling to maintain our previously excellent service levels in a couple of areas (namely prescriptions and call waiting times) which is disappointing for us and our patients. However, it is improving and we are committed to continuing to make every effort to address these issues until we have returned to the standards we (an dour patients) have come to expect. It is possible for these temporary issues to overshadow the many brilliant services and team of healthcare workers that continue to provide excellent care to our patients on a daily basis. And in particular, it is a further boost when temporary patients visiting our Surgery feedback that they felt what we would consider to be our "standard" service is considered by them to be "stand out".     I feel extremely grateful to be looked after by Holt Medical Practice. Every member of staff; reception, doctors, nurses and pharmacists, that I have dealt with have done an outstanding job both at the Melton Constable surgery and Holt surgery. They go above and beyond every time. They are efficient, helpful and caring. Thank you very much.
