Excellent service this week from Harbury Surgery. After a difficult bank holiday weekend I phoned reception at 8am Tuesday and got to see my Dr at 10am. She was very thorough with me and took her time, while also teaching two medical students, to unravel what was wrong. She got me in for a blood test while I was there, and wanted to see me in 24 hours to check on me. You can’t get a much better service than that. Exceptional.

  2. Review titled Lack of Community Spirit

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was recently alarmed to hear that the surgery would no longer take repeat prescriptions by phone and the advice given was to go online. Clearly, not everyone has the internet and due to age or perhaps learning difficulties with basic English they may not be able to use it even if the did have access to it. I phoned the surgery and was advised to speak to the dispensary, I was put through and asked what other measures where in place for those who are unable to use or access the internet. I was advised that if someone was housebound they could apply to go on a list that was allowed to use the phone to reorder prescriptions. I asked if they are not housebound but maybe have other educational, age or even mobility issues what measures are in place for this group of people. I was informed they could use the slip attached to the prescription and return it to the surgery. I pointed out that if someone had mobility issues that may be problematic, I was told that they could therefore post it to the surgery. I said well that would mean having to go out, buy a stamp and post it which, if someone is disabled could be difficult. I pushed a little harder and was told to make a complaint to the practice manager. It was at that point the dispensary staff member put the phone down on me. The point I wish to make and the solution I suggest is quite simple. Harbury Surgery...... allow people to use an outside provider such as Lloyds or Boots to electronically collect and deliver prescriptions to those who wish to use such a service. As a doctors practice running an on site pharmacy you are in a strong position when it comes to purchasing your drugs as you are also the prescribers of the drugs. Your buying power from the drug companies is strong therefore allowing you to make considerable margins. Have some consideration to those who for whatever reason find it hard to use the internet or get to the surgery. Have some consideration for those who work fulltime and therefore find it difficult to get to the dispensary within your very limited opening times.

  3. Review titled Shockingly unorganised

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have, like others been trying to get out of this surgery but cannot due to catchment. The dispensary is shocking and so unorganised. It is like a circus when certain staff are on. They have yet to move into the 21st century with sending perscriptions to outer sources using snail mail. Because of the ridiculous opening hours and because of the inability to get scripts to delivery services I know have to go and queue, outside for ages to pick up a script. When I have used a doctor, which I rarely do because of the service they are usually a locum or not bothered. The nurses seem to be friendly. Wish I could change.

Very caring and considerate doctor and gave me reasons and options instantly. I had tests very quickly after a referral and follow ups in good time.

  6. Review titled Very good practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by J.Edwards - Posted on 25 July 2023

I've used this practice for 4yrs. The improvements in service over that timeare excellent. Appointments are usually available, prescriptions delivered to pharmacy on time. A recent hiccup in my health was treated with care and consideration by 3 doctors and a consequent plan for care by the hospital put in place. I have no complaints whatsoever! Well done Harbury Surgery.
