The receptionist l spoke to for an appointment was amazing and understanding, she was compassionate to my needs. The g.p was considerate and listened to my concerns and actioned the issues in a respectful, thoughtful and caring manner. The whole process was very thorough. I believe that I could not have had any better care or communication anywhere, private or nhs

  2. Review titled What a fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son had an appointment today with the GP today. He is Autistic and hates many surroundings. The care the doctor has shown my son today was absolutely incredible. The patience and kindness of the gp really made my son so comfortable. This is by far the best health experience we have ever had with any of our children. We are extremely grateful for this. Thank you

  3. Review titled Amazing nurse practitioner

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Jess - Posted on 23 May 2024

The nurse practitioner went above and beyond for my little boy who had an extremely high temperature and an ear infection. She was so thorough and caring throughout all the checks she did on him and she even gave me a call the next day to see how he was.

  4. Review titled Great receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Caramiel G. - Posted on 07 May 2024

I am new to the surgery and i wasn't sure of how to make an appointment to sort out my 2nd shot of shingles vaccination and my diabetes review. So i went to the surgery for the 1st time this morning. The receptionnist was so helpful, polite and professional, that I left the surgery very happy and confident that I made the right choice moving to this surgery. Couple of hours later I received an appointment by text message which again made me feel safe and look after. Thank you to the receptionist because that 1st encounter has left a very positive impression on me.

  6. Review titled Great care and treatment.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Duncan Shaw - Posted on 23 March 2024

I transferred to Great Oakley medical practice in January 2024. At the time I did so I had a nasty wound that had become badly infected on my left leg. I was very unwell and worried. I cannot speak to highly enough of the treatment that I have received from them. I have been attending the surgery twice a week to have the dressings changed by the nursing staff. They have been so caring, careful and gentle treating my wound, cleaning it and redressing it, explaining what they were doing and the type of dressings being used and why. They applied compression bandages for two months and took their time to make sure my leg was as comfortable as possible with the dressings and compression bandages, and for the last five weeks, stockings. Throughout the whole time they made you feel like a ‘person’ and that you mattered, something so very important when you feel so ill, they never hurried me and listen to what I had to say. I cannot speak highly enough of them all, they are professional, senior partner take note please, and are terrific ambassadors for the practice, showing the true face of the NHS as patient centred, not profit like other practices in the town. The reception ladies are also good people, helpful professional and patient aware. Thank you all for your time and care, it meant so much to me when I felt so unwell. You all made me better and are, in my opinion, beacons in the darkness leading you back to the light of health. Thank you all.

  7. Review titled Refreshingly Great Practice from Top to Bottom

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kaite Elliott - Posted on 21 February 2024

This is a fantastic practice! The reception team always have lovely temperaments over the phone and in person. I have been seen by different doctors and nurses each time I have visited but have found them all to be fantastic. Only once have I called up and not been able to get an appointment (to only happen once is incredible), but was successful the next day. Astonishingly, appointments are always the same day I call; a telephone call with a doctor first to vet whether I do need to visit in person (to date has never not resulted in an in-person appointment). The call from a doctor is always within 2 hours of my initial enquiry. Doctors here listen and have never made me feel like I’m being fobbed off or making up for lost time. It is night and day from my previous doctor’s surgery, which was confusingly run with the appointment system always changing each time you called. Unfriendly attitudes on the phone. I had been with that surgery since birth, for over 25 years. I did end up neglecting my health with that surgery as it was exhausting trying to see a doctor. If I did manage to get an appointment, I always felt talked down to and rushed out the door without having been listened to. When trying to first get the mini pill it was a farce as I kept being assigned nurses who weren’t qualified to sign off of the medication despite making this issue clear with reception. The last straw was trying to call up multiple times in August one year to be told we have no appointments, there’s a lot of doctors on summer holidays and the others haven’t submitted schedules to know their availability, despite informing reception I was coughing blood. This was the response I kept getting for over a week. Getting a prescription within the Boots there was always very lengthy too. When I transferred to Great Oakley Medical Centre, I had still not had my smear test. They wasted no time in realising this and wrote to me to encourage booking in. I reluctantly arranged this. I was seen by a nurse who really took the awkwardness I felt towards the situation away. I’ve had three appointments with doctors since and like I said, they have all been fantastic. They take time to explain things, always come up with an initial step to rule things out where applicable, and give prescriptions where necessary. Each prescription I have had, have been available in under 10 minutes when I pop it in with the pharmacy next door. The surgery is very clean and well run, and the staff have impeccable manners. I always leave bowled over by my experience and with a smile on my face because it is a world away from what I have known for years. I recommend this surgery to my immediate family frequently. This surgery is a diamond find and deserves to be recognised for all the things they consistently do exceptionally well. I’m really lucky and grateful to be registered with this surgery. Thank you Great Oakley Medical Centre!

  8. Review titled Helped me out on a really bad day

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Aimee - Posted on 29 February 2024

Spoke to a GP today, having phoned at 8am and spoken to a lovely receptionist to arrange a call back which happened the same day, and he was very thorough and attentive. He listened to me and put a real plan of action in place. My pain was particularly bad today, which was very stressful, but he made a plan to tweak some meds and get in touch with my specialist team. Every single member of staff I came in to contact with today was polite, kind and patient with me. I did need some reassurance from the receptionists that I hadn’t missed the GP’s call, as I have an issue with my phone whereby I don’t always get notified of incoming calls until the person on the other end leaves a voicemail. I digress. In summary, they made a very difficult day just a little bit easier.

  9. Review titled Reception staff very incompetent

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gary jaques - Posted on 12 February 2024

Why are the reception staff asking you question about when you last visited and why you visited when they have the information in front off there eyes, advised I was in a lot off pain but still no call back with doctor and still waiting? I bet if I was none British I would get seen or a call straight away, this practice is very poor

  10. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024

If you do manage to get an appointment you're likely to receive a good service, how ever getting one is nearly impossible. You'll be on hold for 90 minutes from 8am sharp and when they finally answer they tell you they have no more appointments for the day and you either call next day or go to hospital. Next day same is likely to happen and you could go on days without being able to get an appointment. Sometimes the appointment is just the doctor calling back and telling you to send him a picture, then he sends you antibiotics without actually seeing the doctor, I guess this is fine-ish for an adult but for my 1 year old daughter. Pretty sad
