  1. Review titled Poor understanding

by Alastair Kenward - Posted on 12 April 2024

: I'm in chronic pain, 2 slipped discs, with nerve damage. Three times I phoned to request more Hydrocodeine, Pregabalin, as it's 7 days supply (Hydrocodeine) and the doctor sent it to the pharmacy same day. I asked yesterday, and the duty manager said my prescription will available that day, I went to the pharmacy and it wasn't there. I phoned again the receptionist said I had to come in to ask for my prescription. for no reason other then it's policy. They didn't want Id passport driving license, anything. other then just to come in. that policy has to change. (please tell me the reason for that if its not ID) I phoned again and explained that unless they send the prescription today I won't have my painkillers until the following tuesday as it's friday today. So I will be in extra pain for the next three days. The receptionist kept repeating the policy (that she can't do anything to help) I asked for the manager, she said they were in a meeting but a mananger would call me back. No one phoned. I phoned back she said the managers had gone home. Then I asked could she ask a doctor to phone me she said she couldn't do that and said I have to use econsult. esconsult has reached capacity. This whole thing has wasted everyones time and has left me without my medication. And now what ?? I have to phone NHS 111 is that it? It makes no sense. This has to stop!

  2. Review titled Life-saving Intervention?

Many thanks for identifying the recurrence of PMR yesterday and getting a prescription to the Pharmacy on the same day. I don't like to think what the outcome might have been for me last night without the Predisalone

  3. Review titled Very bad service

I called the surgery at 8am, I was caller number 9. When I finally spoke to someone I was told had to go to the old Dulwich hospital center. The staff were not helpful at all. Every time I call the surgery I have to build myself up for disappointment. I wouldn't recommend the surgery to any one they tell you that you can't see a doctor because the duty doctor is booked. So they send you to another clinic. Staff are not very helpful. Why have a doctors surgery if you can't see a doctor.

  4. Review titled The way it was before Tories/Covid

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Yesterday I filled in a 'bad experience' review about this practice admin. Today, when I contacted them, it was how it should be (and was.) The phone was answered after a short wait. The receptionist was welcoming and courteous, and organised both my requests promptly. I was then contacted by phone by a doctor, and I was very satisfied by the outcome. Well done fhrgp. ( My husband and I patients since 1984)

  5. Review titled Very poor

I would not recommend this practice. It is almost impossible to see a dr, I know that can be common, but it’s very bad here. I recently had an appointment cancelled at The Tessa Jowell Centre as it was apparently inappropriate and shouldn’t have been booked by the dr, so I was referred to the nurse, effectively over riding the dr. I’ve just left the surgery.

  6. Review titled Avoid at all costs if you care about your health

Rated 1 star out of 5

I recently signed up despite the dreadful reviews because it’s so close to my home and I’m afraid to say the reviews are correct. Avoid this GP at all costs unless you think you’ll never need one. If you want an appointment be prepared to be on hold for at least 30 mins every time. Ironic given how quickly they registered me. After coughing up blood last week from a chest infection (I am fortunate to rarely get ill and it was quite scary) I called 111 knowing the surgery wouldn’t answer. Eventually I was called by them the next morning having been directed to call me by the 111 urgent care team. They told me no appointments were available but they would find space at Tessa Jowell centre. I turned up for my appt and was told it was in fact at Forest Hill road practice. If they had confirmed the appointment on text I would have absolutely spotted the change but it was very unclear on the phone, if they did actually tell me the location change. I’m not sure they did. I rushed back over but after waiting 30 mins in the reception was told the GP did not have time to see me and told me to go to the pharmacy and that she would only see me if it was absolutely necessary…! In the end I decided to leave it and was prepared to go to A&E if symptoms got worse. I haven’t gotten around to leaving the surgery but I will be very soon.

  7. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am not sure how a medical practice is able to operate in this manner - to make anything other than an emergency appointment you have to use eConsult. I was able to select the appointment type at 8am and by the time I had logged in, the capacity for the day had been reached. It was 8:02am. When I have needed an on the day appointment, I was sent to Tessa Jowell Centre despite living 2 minutes from Forest Hill Road Group practice. My appointment was with a very nice lady but she wasn't a doctor and unfortunately prescribed medication for my son that was inappropriate and the pharmacy refused to dispense the medication. When I requested the records of my travel vaccinations fromForest Hill Road Group practice , I was sent the medical report of someone with a similar name/date of birth. This surgery requires immediate attention and intervention so that patients have a chance of making an appointment to see a doctor. I am filled with dread when I know I have to contact this surgery as it is so appallingly managed.

  8. Review titled Confusing and unclear systems

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2024

There is no standard guidance on how to use their services beyond doing an e-consult which reaches capacity less than five minutes after it opens at 8am. Many administrative tasks are not completed which cause great distress and extra work on the patient's side. There are no guidelines on how to use the services which don't require seeing a doctor and the attitude of the reception staff is rude and unhelpful which actually puts me off trying to get any help for my conditions with them. The majority of the doctors and nurses there are great and it is a shame that the daily running structure is so unclear, confusing and as a result stressful and distressing.

  9. Review titled Service get worse every year

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2024

Been with this practice over 20 years and for the past15 years it just keeps getting worse and worse. Came out of a&e. Follow up to be by my doctor surgery . The doctor from this surgery who I spoke to on the phone seemed very incompetent. Not sure whether she read the information from the hospital as I had to remind her what was instructed by the hospital. The doctor needed to refer me for an 24 hour heart monitor. The doctor said she will do this. Three days later when I was feeling better went to get my blood test form, asked about the heart monitor referral. The receptionist printed off the details. I asked whether I just go to the hospital or should I receive a letter in the post. She did not know and went for advice, came back and said that's the hospital will contact me. One week later not heard from the hospital so contacted the hospital who said no appointment has been made and I had to wait another week for an appointment. This is the last straw I have no faith in this practice anymore. Do not use this surgery.

  10. Review titled E consult

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 December 2023

Absolutely useless and pathetic this system by 2 minutes past 8am the e consult was closed and try again tomorrow! I was told to choose a certain subject and subject not on the list! This surgery has deteriorated drastically! Needs to be longer for the e consults not 2 minutes and then a doctor rings you and diagnosis you over the phone and then you have to weeks for an appointment and then you get a text message saying a doctor will ring you on a certain date and don’t! Absolutely useless practise and I’ve waited two hours on the phone!
